Abstract: A cartridge valve includes a body element adapted for mounting to a panel by jam nuts and including a chamber adapted to receive a core element, the chamber and core element being constructed and arranged to effect a bayonet-type connection, whereby the core element may be selectively installed or removed from the chamber without tools by means of sequential axial and radial manipulations of the core element with respect to the valve body.

Abstract: An improved seal for a rotary valve for high temperature and high pressure fluids. A removable seal member adapted for disposition between a valve body and a valve member rotatably disposed in the valve body is provided. In one aspect of the invention, the seal member is adapted so that pressure exerted by the valve is sufficient to induce cold flow in the seal member. In another aspect of the invention, the seal member includes a pair of longitudinally disposed slots.

Abstract: A quick-connect syringe tip for use with a dental handpiece. The syringe tip resists rotation about an axis through the connection end, allowing retraction of a cheek or lip without changing the orientation of a discharge fluid stream.

Abstract: A dental office is provided with a system to purify air and/or water delivered to the operatory. Purification is by UV-C light applied to the utilities as they are transported from supply to delivery sites. Ideally, the system includes separate devices structured and arranged to effect purification of the ambient air circulating within the operatory; the water supplied to the operatory and the water delivered to and through dental hand pieces in connection with a procedure.

Abstract: A mechanical arm assembly includes an elongated housing member, having internal channels extending between its respective ends. A rod member is mounted within one of those channels, and the housing and rod member are pivotally connected at respective opposite ends to a fixed pivot post and a traveling pivot post to effect a four bar linkage arrangement. A floating spring is mounted within another internal channel separate from and approximately parallel the rod. The spring is mounted to resist the force of gravity operating upon the traveling pivot post, and is linked to that post through a fluid actuated brake cartridge slidably mounted within the channel housing the spring.

Abstract: A dental syringe is constructed as an assembly of which the handle, head and tip components, which together include substantially all of the exterior surfaces of the syringe, can be quickly detached from an internal cartridge, which is connected to the utility conduits. The cartridge is constructed to close off the utility lines when it is detached from and to open the utility lines when it is connected to the remainder of the assembly.

Abstract: An actuator for a control valve of a dental syringe having a body including a button having a head larger than the diameter of a passageway in which the actuator is to be installed to actuate a control valve of the syringe, a shoulder closely fitting in the passageway, a shaft smaller than the shoulder and having an O-ring snugly fitted therearound and the O-ring also fitting into a groove provided therefor in the passageway, a valve stem engaging portion and a tapered collar extending from the shaft to the valve stem engaging portion to provide for easy O-ring installation.
