Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system are directed towards employing machine representations of phonemes to generate and manage domain names, and/or messaging addresses. A voice input signal is received using at least one computing device. The voice input signal is converted into a text representation of the voice input signal. It is then determined if the voice input signal is to be employed for use as at least one of: a domain name and a messaging address. In response to determining the voice input signal is to be employed for use in a domain name, a uniform resource identifier (URI) is generated by appending to the text representation of the voice input signal at least a top-level domain identifier. A registration status of the URI is then determined, the registration status comprising one of: registered and unregistered.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to enabling a user to navigate to a web page or other resource in a taxonomy of resources using a crumb provided in a user interface. The crumb is associated with a category of web pages in the taxonomy. When a user indicates the crumb, such as hovering over the crumb, additional crumbs are displayed, so that the user may directly navigate to another web page in the taxonomy. The additional crumbs may be in the same, or a different category. The user can select a crumb from any category to navigate forward and backward in the taxonomy. The taxonomy may be independent of a storage structure for the web pages. The crumbs may be in a toolbar, script, or other module that interfaces with a local or remote taxonomy processor to access and dynamically manage the taxonomy of web pages.

Abstract: A system and method are directed towards identifying advertisement keywords within a variety of content types, identifying similarity rankings of advertisements based on the keywords, and to the guiding of keyword purchases. In one embodiment, a search is performed based in part on defined selection criteria, and/or scheduling rules. Content that may include advertisements is processed to identify advertisement keywords. A similarity ranking of different advertisements based on keywords therein may be determined. The similarity rankings may be used, with keyword pricing data, to identify instances of keyword arbitrage, guide purchase of keywords, and to control traffic flow to and from advertisements to obtain a benefit from price differentials between what one keyword seller charges for a keyword and what a click buyer will, pay for traffic directed to advertisements with the same or related keyword.

Abstract: A computing device receives, over a network, information regarding word phrases (e.g., search terms) and determines longevity values associated with content built around the word phrases. The computing device selects, based on the longevity values, a first phrase from the word phrases. Content is built or created around the first phrase, and the built or created content is presented or published over a network such as the Internet.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to automatically respond to questions on websites. An electronic communication comprising words is received over a network. In some embodiments, the electronic communication could comprise a message posted by a user on a social networking website. The words of the electronic communication are matched to words in prior search queries, where the prior search queries are associated with online content. A reply is then returned in response to the electronic communication. The reply comprises a representation of the online content, for example, a URL linking to the online content.

Abstract: Enabling a user of a video chat application to a virtual video message answering machine to contextually provide a video message to at least one other user of the video chat application for play back if the user is unavailable. The video message can be arranged to be played when another user attempts to initiate a video communication session with the unavailable user or during an existing video chat session after the user becomes unavailable. Also, the user can choose one or more contexts for playing back a video message to one or more other users that are likely to be participants in a future video communication session. The other user is provided with a user interface that enables the other user to record a video message reply for subsequent playback by the unavailable user.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a system and method is provided to browse and analyze files comprising text strings tagged with metadata. The system and method comprise various functions including browsing the metadata tags in the file, browsing the text strings, selecting subsets of the text strings by including or excluding strings tagged with specific metadata tags, selecting text strings by matching patterns of words and/or parts of speech in the text string and matching selected text strings to a database to identify similar text string. The system and method further provide functions to generate suggested text selection rules by analyzing a selected subset of a plurality of text strings.

Abstract: Provided are systems, methods, and machine-readable storage media for presenting animations overlying multimedia files in accordance with the present disclosure. Embodiments are described for linking an animation to a multimedia file and presenting the animation overlying a concurrent playback of the multimedia file (e.g., its content). Embodiments are described for including additional elements to the presentation of the animation outside of the playback of the animation, including residual elements that relate to the content of the animation and/or allow a user to receive further information about the content of the animation. Embodiments are described for linking an animation to more than one multimedia file.

Abstract: Systems, methods and machine-readable mediums to identify web page titles for content production are provided. The systems may include a storage device and a processor. The storage device may store a plurality of titles, each title is associated with a respective one of a plurality of web pages. The processor may be programmed to select a title from the plurality of titles and determine a value for the selected title. The value may be based on the number of times that the selected title appears in the plurality of titles, and on the number of web pages that link to the selected title. If the value is greater than a first threshold level, the processor may be programmed to identify the selected title for online publication.

A user of a computing device may provide an audio input signal such as obtained from human language sounds. The audio input signal is received at a phoneme encoder that converts the sounds into machine representations of the sounds using a phoneme representation viewable as a sequence of alpha-numeric values. The sequence of alpha-numeric values may then be combined with a host name, or the like to generate a URI, a message address, or the like. The generated URI, message address, or the like, may then be used to communication over a network.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to select potential titles for online content using search query logs from web search service providers. A plurality of search queries are collected from one or more web search service providers. A lifetime value is determined for each of the search queries. Potential titles are then selected from the plurality of search queries using selection criteria including the lifetime value of the search queries. The potential titles can then be provided to content developers who develop online content based on the potential titles.

Abstract: A server receives and stores a contributor's content for redistribution of the content via a distributor's web site. From the distributor, the server receives and stores a specification relating to the content and the manner in which a portion of the content is to be displayed. In accordance with the specification, the server outputs the portion of the content to the distributor.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a title is selected for content to be published online. A method implemented in a data processing system includes receiving a plurality of text strings. A plurality of rules are applied to the text strings. If a condition specified in one of the rules exists in a given text string, one or more attributes are associated to that text string as metadata. One or more of the text strings are selected, using the metadata, as a potential title for the content. A final title is prepared based on the potential title, and the content is published online under the final title.

Abstract: On a display device, within at least one web browser window, an information handling system displays a first web page that is associated with an address of a second web page. The first web page includes commentary about the second web page by one or more human reviewers. The first web page is so displayed on the display device in response to a selection by a user of at least one of the following: a command that is displayed on the display device within a web browser toolbar, in association with the second web page; and a hyperlink that is displayed on the display device within a third web page, in association with the second web page.

Abstract: A method and system for resolving domain names of web sites with dynamic addresses. The resolution system, which may execute as part of a domain name server, receives a domain name associated with a web site. The resolution system then identifies a dynamic address name associated with the received domain name. The resolution system then sends to a dynamic address system the identified dynamic address name. The dynamic address system then returns an address associated with the dynamic address name to the resolution system. Upon receiving the identified address, the resolution system then returns the identified address as the address of the received domain name. Methods and systems for mapping an unregistered domain name to an address and for placing telephone calls via a network are also provided.

Abstract: In one embodiment, at least one first information handling system of a user receives an excerpt of information associated with the user. In response to the excerpt, the first information handling system automatically translates the excerpt into an XML format, so that the translated excerpt is compatible for operation with at least one second information handling system of the user. The first information handling system synchronizes the translated excerpt with the second information handling system.
