  • Publication number: 20110168651
Abstract: A shelving system and components thereof is disclosed. Preferably, the shelving system is a reverse cantilever shelf mounting system, wherein one or more shelves are supported by and extend rearwardly from an inner face of upright vertical standards. The vertical standards are of two piece construction having a triangular cross-sectional shape and an inner face having vertically oriented slots along its length for mounting shelf brackets. Tensioned cross braces lock together welded side frames of the shelving system. A base facia or “kick plate” panel may be mounted to the base of the shelving system frame, and optional open-sided rod bookstops mate with punched out mounts that are integral with the shelf top surface to securely mount the bookstop to the shelf.

  • Patent number: 4833897
Abstract: The apparatus comprises an enclosure for receiving ice chips and water and a specially designed and dimensioned mixer in the form of a vertical shaft passing into the enclosure and supporting two sets of four turbine blades each. Further, the interior of the enclosure includes baffles spaced radially inwardly from the interior wall to leave a small gap between the wall and each baffle. The resulting violent agitation enables the provision of "liquid ice" without any necessity to add salt as has been required in the past.

  • Patent number: 4532774
Abstract: The apparatus is for pre-cooling produce immediately after harvesting of the same and towards this end, constitutes a portable elongated enclosure normally positioned at the field site of harvesting. A detachable dolly supports the enclosure so that it can be moved to various different field sites as required. The enclosure itself supports pallets having containers arranged in two longitudinal rows to define a passage therebetween. An air handling housing in turn incorporates an exhaust fan, cooling coils and appropriate ducting so that refrigerated air is circulated over the tops and sides of the rows of the containers and drawn into the central passageway by the exhaust fan to then again pass into the air handling housing. In other words, a forced air circulation is used to remove the field heat from the containers.

  • Patent number: 4480536
Abstract: The broccoli bunching apparatus is wholly pneumatically operated. In response to a first operation on a manual pneumatic control switch, a rubber band is pneumatically expanded in front of a central opening in a housing. Broccoli stems can then be inserted through the rubber band and the opening. A second operation of the pneumatic control switch results in the rubber band retracting about the stems and simultaneously a knife blade within the housing cutting the stems. Also, an ejector is automatically operated after a given delay time to strip the cut broccoli stems from the rubber band expander so that the apparatus is ready for repeating the operation.

  • Patent number: 4425768
Abstract: The icing apparatus comprises an open frame structure for receiving cartons stacked in rows and columns on a pallet. These cartons contain perishable food such as broccoli brought in from the field and are to be treated with liquid ice to preserve their contents. Towards this end, the apparatus includes left and right carriages carrying horizontal rows of liquid ice injecting probes or nozzles. These carriages can move up and down left and right sides of the frame and also the probes themselves can be moved in and out towards and away from cartons on the pallet. By this arrangement, an upper horizontal row of cartons can be simultaneously iced by the horizontal row of probes by simply moving the same into the hand hold openings of the cartons. The carriage structures can then be lowered by the heighth dimension of the cartons and a next horizontal row of cartons simultaneously treated with liquid ice.

  • Patent number: 4280884
Abstract: A method and apparatus for recovery of metallic silver from a silver containing aqueous solution employing an electrolytic cell by introducing such solution to a hollow central anode and jetting the solution from the anode through a plurality of apertures having outwardly flared exit sections in generally conically configured streams from the anode toward an outer circumscribing cathode of the cell. The solution issuing forth simultaneously from the several apertures is moved in a plurality of streams toward the cathode, each stream diffusing as it nears the cathode.

  • Patent number: 4249388
Abstract: The liquid ice system comprises an icing machine in the form of a compartment for receiving water and ice. Pulverizing means are provided for crushing the ice and uniquely oriented paddles stir the water and ice mixture to maintain a homogeneous mixture of liquid ice. A circulating conduit is provided in combination with a conveyor system and ice applicator devices connected to a portion of the conduit supported on an overhead structure of the conveyor. Boxes of vegetables or poultry are appropriately refrigerated for shipment by applying liquid ice to the boxes as they pass along the conveyor. Switches may be provided for automatically actuating the ice applicators when the box passes therebeneath.
