Abstract: A fence rail section has a metal bracket for attaching a rail to a post. The bracket is symmetrical and sized to conform to the maximum and minimum cross-sectional dimensions of the rail. Extending from the base portion of the bracket are a pair of L-shaped ears and a rectangular tab which cooperate to define a socket to receive an end of the rail either laterally or longitudinally. Exposed-post fences are readily erected using these brackets.
Abstract: A microwave oven thermometer unit has polysulfone plate with a glass tube secured to the plate by a pair of mounting polysulfone straps. A method of welding the straps to the plate includes forming each of the strap ends with a stud member having a diameter larger than an opening in the plate. The studs and openings are aligned and ultrasonic energy applied, simultaneously with pressure to force the studs into the openings to form a weld. The different sizes of the stud and opening creates weld flash moving in front of the first member and also outwardly of the opening, which has an encircling recess to receive the weld flash. The stud member is formed with an enlarged head overlying an encircling recess and weld flash deposited therein.
Abstract: A thermometer having temperature limit indication includes a support plate having a bimetal coil secured to the plate by a suitable hub. A pointer arm is extended from the bimetal coil and positioned across a temperature scale on the plate in accordance with the sensed temperature. A portion of the plate is bent outwardly to define an inclined plane member at a selected temperature limit and in the path of the pointer arm. The coil mounted pointer has sufficient resiliency to permit movement over the inclined plane while insuring latching behind such bent outwardly portion if at the temperature limit. A plurality of spaced bent outwardly members may be provided to indicate various limits. The inclined plane member may be a separate adjustable element to permit adjustment of the temperature limit position.
