  • Patent number: 5079730
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the evaluation of time signals with periodic components or pulse sequences, in which the time signal is digitized sectionally, represented on a light modulator transilluminated with coherent light, focused in a Fourier plane and the image in the Fourier plane, which contains the frequency of the time signal, is further processed. The first section of the digitized time signal is written into a line (26) of the light modulator (6). Each further section is represented in a further line (26). The apparatus for carrying out the process has a digitizing device and a controller representing a sectionally digitized time signal on the light modulator. The light modulator is transilluminated by coherent light of a light source. The light is focused on a screen arranged in a Fourier plane by an optical system. A line controller is provided as controller.

  • Patent number: 5045855
Abstract: In a method for extracting motion errors of a platform carrying a coherent imaging radar system from raw radar data, azimuth spectra continuously following each other in time are formed over a set period of time for the imaging of terrains with mainly homogeneous ground reflectivities. An estimate of the ground reflectivity part is performed with a Kalman filter and with the aid of the azimuth spectra represented and system parameters entered. Then the antenna pattern part is obtained by dividing the azimuth spectrum by the estimated ground reflectivity part. By frequency filtering a separation of the drift angle .phi.(t) from the velocity V.sub.b (t) in the LOS- direction of the antenna is subsequently performed and then the velocity obtained is subjected to normalization after having been integrated, from which results the displacement in the line of sight direction of the antenna.

  • Patent number: 5037516
Abstract: In a process for application of a MoS.sub.2 coating on a substrate in which, within a sputter chamber, molybdenum disulfide is released in a gas discharge from a molybdenum disulfide target and deposited onto the substrate, in order to produce a lamella structure extending parallel to the surface of the substrate, it is proposed that the water vapor partial pressure in the sputter chamber is reduced to such an extent that the ratio of the water vapor partial pressure to the coating rate of the substrate falls below a prescribed value.

  • Patent number: 5037062
Abstract: A separating wall having a valve opening is disposed between a chamber holding a high pressure and a chamber holding a low pressure. The valve seat is closed by a ball acting as a valve body. For a quick opening of the valve, an actuating member imparts a lateral impact to the ball, thereby lifting the ball off the valve seat. Setting the ball back onto the valve seat is effected under the influence of the gas flow passing through the valve opening. The valve has extremely short switching times and allows for a high repetition frequency.

  • Patent number: 5014339
Abstract: A device for heating a flow of substantially pure gas flowing in a flow direction to temperatures above about 600.degree. C. is disclosed. The device includes a heat exchanger having a heat exchanger surface extending transversely to the flow direction whereby the substantially pure gas flows across the heat exchanger surface. The heat exchanger is made of a ceramic material for heating the pure gas without contaminating the gas flow. An infrared radiation source arranged outside of the flow of pure gas irradiates the heat exchanger surface.

  • Patent number: 4993043
Abstract: Two coils between which a sample is contactlessly held in a suspended state, form a common part of two different oscillating circuits. A heating oscillating-circuit consists of the two coils and two first capacitors. A positioning oscillating-circuit consists of the two coils and two second capacitors. The current of the heating oscillating-circuit flows through both coils in the same direction, and the current of the positioning oscillating-circuit flows through both coils in opposite directions. Since the two oscillating circuits are not coupled to each other, heating efficiency and positioning efficiency can be set independently from each other. Two coils are sufficient for heating and positioning.

  • Patent number: 4951464
Abstract: From the exhaust gas of a Diesel engine, carbon black is filtered out by a ceramic carbon black filter. To regenerate said carbon black filter, it is burned out by means of a burner comprising a swirl nozzle provided with liquid fuel and air. The burner is operated with a supergreased fuel/air mixture, and in the main combustion chamber there is produced a stable flame burning sootlessly. The combustion gases are mixed with the exhaust gases in a transverse flow mixer and the residual fuel amount is burned off in a secondary combustion chamber by air contained in the exhaust gas. Regeneration may take place during the operation of the engine, while the burner flame is not put out by the pulsating engine pressure.
