    Abstract: Compounds are prepared of the formula ##STR1## where R' is a t-alkyl group having 4 to 18 carbon atoms, preferably t-butyl, t-amyl or t-octyl and R is a straight or branched chain alkyl group with 1 to 18 carbon atoms, preferably 1 to 10 carbon atoms or an alkyl group substituted with one or more phenyl group or a halogen atom, particularly a chlorine atom, or a cycloalkyl group with 3 to 8 carbon atoms, particularly cyclopropyl, which can be substituted by one or more 1 to 3 carbon atom alkyl groups or one or more halogen atoms, preferably chlorine, or phenyl or naphthyl or a five membered heterocyclic group or such phenyl, naphthyl or heterocyclic group substituted by halogen atoms, nitro groups, alkyl or alkoxy with 1 to 5 carbon atoms by condensing in acid medium an acyl cyanide of the formulaR--CO--CN (II)where R is as defined above with either(a) a tertiary alcohol of the formulaHO--R' (III)in which R' is as defined above, or preferably(b) an alkene of the formula ##STR2## where R.sub.1 and R.sub.

    Abstract: Furnace black is produced by a thermal splitting of a carbon black forming oil by oxidation of a fuel in a combustion chamber with production of a stream of hot combustion gases, introduction of this stream in a constricted mixing chamber narrower than the fuel chamber, inserting the carbon black forming material into the mixing chamber and conveying the mixture into an enlarged reaction chamber compared to the mixing chamber as well as quenching the carbon black containing reaction mixture, the stream of hot combustion gases being introduced into the mixing chamber via an annular channel or introducing the stream into an annular channel shaped mixing chamber and spraying in the carbon black forming material into the mixing chamber or ring conduit from within outwardly.

    Abstract: Silicon dioxide containing waste flue dust from the producton of silicon metal and silicon alloys is converted to crystalline zeolite molecular sieves of Type Y by (1) dissolving the flue dust in alkali metal hydroxide solution with the formation of alkali metal silicate solution having the module (SiO.sub.2 :Me.sup.I.sub.2 O) in the range of 4.0:1 to 5.0:1 at a temperature of 60.degree.-110.degree. C.; (2) purifying the thus obtained alkali metal silicate solution from organic constituents by treatment with activated carbon and/or an oxidizing agent and separating the non-decomposable residue from the solution; and (3) reacting alkali metal aluminate solution present at room temperature with the diluted, purified alkali metal silicate solution with a module (SiO.sub.2 :Me.sup.I.sub.2 O) of 4.0:1 to 5.0:1 obtained by steps (1) and (2) and subsequently crystallizing the reaction mixture (SiO.sub.2 :Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 =4-7:1, Me.sup.I.sub.2 O:SiO.sub.2 =0.4-0.7, H.sub.2 O:Me.sup.I.sub.

    Abstract: Oxymethylene copolymers molding compositions with low portions of residual formaldehyde are produced by heating the polymerizate melts treated with chemical stabilizers in an apparatus in which there are continuously presented new polymerizate surfaces under reduced pressure. The heating of the polymerizate melt takes place in a thin layer evaporator for highly viscous media during an average residence time of 30 to 120 seconds at an average rate of shear between 500 and 2000 s.sup.-1 and at a pressure P.sub.abs of at most 150 mbar. The escaping gases and vapors are drawn off countercurrent to the polymerizate melt.

    Abstract: Alkali aluminum silicates, particularly a zeolitic molecular sieve powder with an average particle diameter of less than 10.mu. and having the portion of particles with a particle size above 45.mu. being less than 1 weight % are prepared by hydrothermal crystallization of an alkali aluminate-silicate mixture, separating the crystallization product from the mother liquor and drying with the proviso that the aqueous medium surrounding the crystallization product is adjusted to a pH value between 8.5 and 11 prior to the drying. The product is used as an ion exchanger, e.g., in dehardening water, particularly as a phosphate substitute in washing, rinsing and cleansing agents.
