  • Patent number: 8087238
Abstract: A method for operating a filter includes forcibly passing a stream of a fluid through a filter wall of the filter from a raw gas side to a clean gas side of the filter so as to separate out particles and particle constituents from the stream, wherein the particles and particle constituents are collected on the raw gas side and performing a regeneration process on the filter during operation of the filter. The regeneration process includes removing particles and particle constituents from the raw gas side of the filter and moving the removed particle constituents to a receiving device disposed on the raw gas side. Alternatively, the filter walls includes a plurality of channels on the raw gas side, each channel closed by a closure wall configured to be partially opened to enable the disposing of the particle constituents.

  • Patent number: 6283101
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling exhaust gas recirculation in an internal combustion engine. Known methods provide for a control unit which generally controls the exhaust gas recirculation rate via a throttle and a stop valve in accordance with operating parameters of the internal combustion engine. No further information is provided on these operating parameters. The invention provides for a method and a device for controlling exhaust gas recirculation in an internal combustion engine which method and device are able to take into consideration a wide range of operating conditions of an internal combustion engine. To this end the control unit comprises a basic characteristic map (1) above the parameters “rotation per mite of international combustion engine” and “quantity of fuel supplied per operating cycle”. The basic signals of the basic characteristic map (1) can be influenced by correcting units which can be connected as needed and transmit correcting signals.

  • Patent number: 6205966
Abstract: The invention relates to a multicylinder internal combustion engine with two inlet valves and two outlet valves (12, 11), the outlet valves (11) being located on one side of an internal combustion engine and the inlet valves (12) being located on the other side. The outlet valves (11) and the inlet valves (12) are actuated by a camshaft via inlet rocker arms (4) and outlet rocker arms (5). In order to reduce the size of the cylinder heads (1) and the rocker housing (2), the inlet rocker arm (4) and the outlet rocker arm (5) are forked. Each forked rocker arm (4,5) actuates two similar valves (12,11) per cylinder (13). The axes (4a, 5a) of the inlet rocker arms (4) or outlet rocker arms (5) are staggered in relation to each other or preferably overlap.
