  • Publication number: 20110011065
Abstract: A method and a device for selectively purifying the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine using a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalytic converter (2), wherein a reducing agent is metered to the exhaust gas prior to entry into the SCR catalytic converter (2). An overdose of the reducing agent is added to the exhaust gas, and the exhaust gas, after exiting the SCR catalytic converter, is fed in part through an oxidation catalytic converter (5) and in part to a second SCR catalytic converter (8) via a bypass (6) circumventing the oxidation catalytic converter. In the oxidation catalytic converter (5), one half of the excess NH3 flowing out of the first SCR catalytic converter (2) is converted to NOx and reacts to form non-hazardous nitrogen after mixing with the other half of the excess NH3 flowing unchanged through a bypass.

  • Publication number: 20090139501
Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes a crankcase and a cylinder head which covers a cylinder of the crankcase and in which a fresh-gas channel and an exhaust-gas channel are made which open on a cylinder-head longitudinal side and are connected to in each case a fresh-gas line and an exhaust-gas collection line, and wherein there is an exhaust-gas recirculation system, including an exhaust-gas recirculation line and a control valve. An internal combustion engine having an exhaust-gas recirculation system is provided, in which the exhaust-gas recirculation system remains uninfluenced by the exhaust-gas collection line which is hot during operation. This is achieved in that the exhaust-gas recirculation system is arranged on that cylinder-head side which lies opposite the fresh-gas line and the exhaust-gas collection line.

  • Publication number: 20070193257
Abstract: A method for operating a filter includes forcibly passing a stream of a fluid through a filter wall of the filter from a raw gas side to a clean gas side of the filter so as to separate out particles and particle constituents from the stream, wherein the particles and particle constituents are collected on the raw gas side and performing a regeneration process on the filter during operation of the filter. The regeneration process includes removing particles and particle constituents from the raw gas side of the filter and moving the removed particle constituents to a receiving device disposed on the raw gas side. Alternatively, the filter walls includes a plurality of channels on the raw gas side, each channel closed by a closure wall configured to be partially opened to enable the disposing of the particle constituents.

  • Patent number: 5918823
Abstract: A product bed comminution high-pressure roller press wherein the problem of great recirculations of product material or, respectively, high product circulation rates caused, for example, because of reduced roller press pressures is solved employing little machine outlay. Two rollers (10, 11) are surrounded by a housing composed of two stationary lateral end walls (12, 13) between which a rotatably seated material conveying ring (16) that can be rotated is arranged for an internal product material circulation. The product material is admitted from the side through one or more openings (22) in one or in both housing end walls (12, 13) and the product material is discharged laterally through one or more openings (24) in the housing end walls (12, 13) via a discharge element (25) and/or via one or more discharge elbows (27).

  • Patent number: 5911371
Abstract: In two-roll machines for high-pressure disintegration of granular material, in which typically only one of the two rolls is motor driven, while the other roll is driven by means of friction via the granular material pressed in the roll gap, and thus operates as a drag roll, it is proposed to equip the drag roll with a separate, smaller drive mechanism including a separate smaller drive motor. This drive is thereby dimensioned in such a way that the startup of the drag roll is ensured and a drop in revolutions per minute of the drag roll is avoided. Alternatively, this separate drive is enlarged in such a way that it can transmit 10% to 40%, preferably 20%, of the total required drive power.

  • Patent number: 5820363
Abstract: A cement clinker manufacturing installation a rotary kiln (10) having secondary firing and a grate cooler (16) with a high degree of heat recuperation. Instead of placing the grate cooler (16) in-line with the rotary kiln (10), the grate cooler (16) is positioned with its clinker transport direction (16a) transverse to the longitudinal axis of the rotary kiln (10). This angular positioning of the grate cooler (16) permits a discharge of hot air from the grate cooler as combustion air for the secondary firing of the calcination state by way of a discharge opening (20 or 21) on the lateral half of the kiln discharge housing (11) in which the beginning of the recuperation zone of the grate surface (15) of the grate cooler (16) is located. Thus somewhat cooler secondary air (18) flows into the rotary kiln (16) thereby avoiding excessively high temperatures at the rotary kiln discharge without reduction in overall thermal efficiency of the cement plant.

  • Patent number: 5390639
Abstract: A method of calculating fuel injection quantities, as determined by the initiation and duration of fuel injection, in an internal combustion engine in response to repetitive engine operating parameters measured during engine operation. The quantity of fuel injected into a cylinder of a multicylinder engine may be determined through measurement of an operating characteristic of that cylinder immediately prior to injection. The timing of injection may also be responsive to the measurement of the engine operating characteristic which may not be uniformly repetitive.

  • Patent number: 5326320
Abstract: In a method and an apparatus for forage processing, in order to accelerate its drying process, mown stalk material is fed to rotating pressing elements (7, 7a, 7b), which consolidate the stalk material into a mat of stalk material. In order to produce an inherently stable mat of stalk material, the thickness and density of said mat are to be held constant, independent of the quantity of stalk material supplied by a mowing or collecting means (1), and the forage constituents within the mat are to be better mixed. To this end, the volume of stalk material fed to the pressing means (7) and a conveying speed of the pressing elements (7a and 7b) are continuously transmitted to a control means (20) as measured values, and on the basis of these parameters the conveying speed is reduced by means of the control means (20) in the case of a small quantity of stalk material accumulating (FIG. 1).

  • Patent number: 5300910
Abstract: In a known magnet system, specifically for magnetic separators, having homogeneously magnetized magnet blocks arranged in circular ring shape, the magnet blocks have their magnetization directions aligned differently from one to another and established in accordance with a predetermined mathematical formula. While a magnetic field running almost uniformly over the whole region of the magnet system is thus produced, the magnet blocks are made trapezoidal in cross section and, because of the many distinct magnetization directions, require separate fabrication. Both the fabrication and the assembly of these magnet blocks are therefore relatively complicated and time-consuming. In accordance with the invention, however, the fabrication and the assembly of the magnet blocks into a magnet system are quite substantially simplified and improved by virtue of the fact that the magnet blocks (1) are made square in cross section.
