  • Patent number: 11965859
Abstract: System and methods are provided for empirical analysis of remaining life in electromechanical devices. Sensors are positioned to generate signals representing sound energy emitted by devices, and digital sound data are stored corresponding thereto. The system classifies sound characteristics and their corresponding impact on wear rate over time via recurring analysis of the stored sound data. For a selected device, a wear state is estimated based on a comparison of current sound energy emitted therefrom with respect to sound data for a comparable group of electromechanical devices, and it may be ascertained whether certain classified sound characteristics are present in digital sound data corresponding to the selected electromechanical device. Output signals are selectively generated based on the estimated wear state and/or classified sound characteristics ascertained to be present, e.g.

  • Patent number: 11188292
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for customized presentation of sound data associated with the operation of electromechanical equipment, wherein users of varying hearing capabilities can ascertain conditions of the equipment in real time. A sound detection device includes transducers which collect sound signals from the equipment and convert the sound signals into digital sound data. A processor generates a first audio data set corresponding to the digital sound data received from the sound detection device and, for a given human user, identifies an audio profile comprising perceivable audio frequency ranges. A target frequency range is identified within the perceivable audio frequency ranges for the given human user, and the first audio data set is shifted or mapped to the target frequency range to generate a second audio data set. Audio output signals corresponding to the second audio data set are user-selectively delivered to the user via an audio receiver.

  • Patent number: 10156844
Abstract: A server-based system provides remote configuration of client electromechanical equipment and comparative analysis of sound data obtained therefrom. The server obtains equipment identification data from an endpoint device, and determines a confidence level of a suggested equipment configuration relative to various types of equipment having associated sound data files stored in a database. For sufficient matches (confidence levels exceeding a predetermined threshold value), the server associates the equipment with a selected one of the types of equipment, and conveys at least predetermined sound inspection positions to the endpoint device. A sound detection device is applied respective to the inspection points, wherein analog sound signals are collected from the equipment and converted into digital sound data.

  • Patent number: 10145761
Abstract: A system and method are provided for equipment sound monitoring. The system includes an electromechanical device having at least one cavity defined therein. A dampening tube is such that at least a portion of the dampening tube is received within the at least one cavity without contacting a surface of the electromechanical device. A transducer box includes an opening defined therein, the opening configured to receive at least a portion of the dampening tube. The transducer box further includes a sound detection module configured to detect at least one of audio and vibration associated with the electromechanical device. A method of connecting and using the equipment sound monitoring system are provided.

  • Patent number: 9971667
Abstract: A system and method is provided for local collection of sound data from industrial equipment and comparative analysis of the data. A sound detection device includes transducers resiliently mounted to continuously collect sound signals perpendicular to the electromechanical device. A shrouding material situated between the transducers and the electromechanical device dampens physical vibration to the transducers to peak amplitude of ?0.3 microvolts, and returns the transducers to a zero-degree angle of reference from a mounting position of the sound detection device by means of elastic retention. Digital sound data is transmitted to a remote server, which analyzes the data wherein comparative models of baseline data are associated with an operative status of the electromechanical device. Variations between the collected data and the baseline data may be associated with failure or substandard operation of the electromechanical device, wherein alerts are accordingly generated to notify a respective client user.

  • Patent number: 9223299
Abstract: A system and method for comparative analysis of sound data obtained from client equipment includes a portable sound detection device with a transducer to collect sounds from equipment, convert the collected sounds into analog signals, and generate digital data files including sound data representative of the collected sounds. The data files are stored in a web-based database and remote server-based program modules aggregate data associated with the data files with previously stored and related data across a plurality of predetermined data parameters. The program executes or enables identification of outlying data points with respect to data points from the sound data, and the comparison of sound data with baseline data determined the equipment type, the location and the aggregated data. The program then executes or enables identification of data points from the sound data representative of an equipment failure, or an imminent failure thereof.
