  • Patent number: 7066913
Abstract: An anesthetic metering system includes an anesthetic reservoir (1) having an anesthetic reserve (2), which is limited by a flexible material wall and to which pressure is admitted by means of a propellant (3) acting thereon via the wall material. The anesthetic reservoir (1) has a first valve (4), which is in flow connection with the liquid anesthetic reserve (2) and can be inserted into a mounting element (6) of an anesthesia apparatus. The metered release of anesthetic to the anesthesia apparatus takes place via a volumetric nozzle (8). The present invention provides an anesthetic metering device which avoids, on the one hand, the drawbacks of the anesthetic evaporators used previously, which are to be refilled with anesthetics at the workplace, and makes possible the refilling of the anesthetic reservoir (1) at the anesthetic manufacturer, on the other hand.

  • Patent number: 7063662
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a supply unit for accommodating medical instruments. A middle part, which is located at an instrument (12) and is equipped with lateral guide surfaces (3), engages a height-adjustable middle part of the supply unit (1) with side cheeks (2) in an accurately fitting manner. So-called end position sensors (4), e.g., photoelectric cells, which send a signal to an evaluating and control unit when the height-adjustable middle part of the supply unit (1) has been moved upward to the extent that pins (14) arranged there are completely accommodated by complementarily designed pin mounts (15) at the middle part of the instrument (12), are provided at the middle part of the supply unit (1). The evaluating and control unit now releases a plug-type connection for the power supply (6, 7), for the data transmission (8, 9) and for the pneumatic supply (10, 11).

  • Patent number: 7044850
Abstract: An open patient care unit with a bed (1), with inner and outer air discharge channels (20, 30) extending around the bed (1) at least over some sections, and with at least one air exhaust or a purgative suction unit (4) arranged above the bed (1), wherein the air discharge channels (20, 30) are directed such that they converge toward the air exhaust or purgative suction unit (4), and wherein ambient air delivered via a first fan (6) is discharged from the outer air discharge channels (30), and air, which is conditioned in terms of humidity and/or temperature and is delivered via a second fan (8) from the air exhaust or purgative suction unit (4), is discharged from the inner air discharge channels (20), has the essential advantage that a hood, which is used in incubators, is not used at all, so that switching over between different operating states is not necessary, and cooling down of the patient is thus avoided, but good access is at the same time ensured for the care providers.

  • Patent number: 7003218
Abstract: An incubator hood for an incubator for premature and newborn babies as well as to a process for regulating the temperature of an incubator hood are provided. The problem frequently occurring in incubator hoods is that the incubator hoods lead to heat losses at the premature and newborn babies and that water of condensation precipitates on the inside of the incubator in such incubator hoods, and this water of condensation obstructs the view and facilitates the growth of microorganisms in the incubator. This can be counteracted by a heated incubator hood. The comparatively complicated regulation processes, which requires the installation of temperature sensors in the incubator hood is avoided by the use of interior heating wires (1) in which temperature-dependent electric resistors (3), preferably PTC resistors with a nominal response temperature of about 37° C., are arranged.

  • Patent number: 6997183
Abstract: A breathing gas humidifier system for a patient includes a replaceable, closed water reservoir (1) with stable pressure, provided for receiving a water reserve for the breathing gas humidifier system. An intermediate storage unit (4) with water is closed from the environment and is located under the water reservoir. The water reservoir (1) and the intermediate storage unit (4) have a valve (16, 14) each, with one of the valves cooperating with the other valve, so that there is a flow connection between the water reservoir (1) and the intermediate storage unit (4) only when the water reservoir (1) is received in a connector (2) of the intermediate storage unit (4). The intermediate storage unit (4) is connected via a water connection line (5) located below the water level to a heated evaporator chamber (7), which opens above the water evaporating at the boiling point into the breathing gas line to a patient.

  • Patent number: 6968843
Abstract: A process and system are provided for clearing modes of operation of a medical engineering device, especially modes of operation on a respirator (1), such as IMV (Intermittent Mandatory Ventilation, CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) or HFV (High-Frequency Ventilation). The clearing is performed with an external electronic, optical or magnetic storage medium, e.g., a chip card (2), on which data that determine the available modes of operation and optionally the duration of their availability are present. The data on the chip card (2) are read by a writing and reading unit (3) of the respirator (1). The data may be coded, the duration of availability of a mode of respiration may be controlled by keeping a time log (9) on the chip card, and the corresponding time periods are debited from the time log (9) each time a certain mode of operation is used.

  • Patent number: 6942612
Abstract: A hood with a double wall portion or wall adapter for a thermotherapy device. The wall adapter works with the hood in such thermotherapy devices to lower that part of the body heat of the premature or newborn infant lost due to radiation to the cooler hood. The construction avoids inter alia problems relating to water of condensation being formed, which may drop off. The double wall portion or wall adapter is arranged on the outside of a hood portion of the hood (1). The wall adapter (2) is fastened to the hood part (1) from the outside in a simple manner. A connection structure (5) provides for connection or locking of the wall adapter (2) at the hood (1). A seal (3) extends around the wall element of the wall adapter (2) to enclose an intermediate space between the wall adapter and (2) and the hood (1).

  • Patent number: 6941597
Abstract: A holding device for medical instruments at a patient's bed, which are accommodated in suspension components. Holding devices for various medical instruments, such as respirators and accessories, infusion and secretion bags, measuring instruments and disposable articles, are used at patients' beds in many areas. A frequent drawback of prior-art holding devices is that the support at the patient's bed is unstable because the holding devices are suspended only loosely in a rail or handle. The holding device according to the present invention guarantees stable fastening at the patient's bed. It comprises a horizontal crossbeam (1), which is fixed on the sides of a peripheral strap (9) at the foot end of the patient's bed via, e.g., fixing means (3) designed as metal claws. Two vertical suspension carriers (2) with openings (6) for receiving suspension components have suspension sections (5) at their upper ends for suspension on the straps (9).

  • Patent number: 6929597
Abstract: A closing device for a flap on an incubator hood or thermotherapy apparatus hood is equipped with flaps, which make access possible to the premature or newborn baby from the outside. A closing device for the flap (1) on an thermotherapy apparatus hood (3) is provided which guarantees reliable closing. A roller (9) at a second closing element (5) extends behind a first closing element (4). The roller (9) is mounted on an axle (8) with a clearance in a range of 1.5 mm to 2.0 mm in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the axle (8) extends, so that an undefined state of the closing device, in which the roller (9), though touching the first closing element (4), does not extend behind it, is avoided.
