Abstract: A method and a device for the longitudinal welding of profiles (2,5, 13) is provided in which a profile (13) that is to be provided with a weld seam (22, 23) is guided through a welding device (1), and in the welding device (1) a welding head (14, 15) produces a weld point (20, 21) on the profile (13), in order to manufacture a weld seam (22, 23). The profile movement is braked at selectable intervals from an essentially constant production speed down to the point at which the profile (13) is at a standstill, and is subsequently accelerated back to the production speed, while the application of welding energy to the profile (13) is switched off below a threshold transport speed.

Abstract: A method of producing a metal profile is provided in which a first sheet metal strip is deformed into a first profile by a plurality driven or free-running roller forming tools and, directly after the deformation process, passes through a welding station, in which a second sheet metal strip or a second profile is welded longitudinally with the first profile by means of a laser beam to form a composite profile. The second sheet metal strip, or the second profile, is hereby laid flat on the first profile, and welded on both sides along the lateral edges of the resulting contact surface. The composite profile can be produced from sheet metal strips and/or profiles with respectively different material properties. The second sheet metal strip or the second profile can be provided before welding with stampings and/or bent-up portions. A device for performing this method is also provided.

Abstract: A process and a device for producing a hollow profile with a cross section varying along its length is provided, in which a first metal strip, varying in width, is deformed by a plurality of driven or free-running roller shaping tools to an open profile, after which the profile passes through a welding station. In the welding station, a second metal strip is brought together with the open profile and is laid flush on the edges bounding the open side. The two components, one laid on the other, are then welded longitudinally to form the desired hollow profile.

Abstract: A profiling arrangement (1) with a roll forming machine (2) including several roller-type forming tools (6) and with a welding device (3) positioned in its processing path makes possible the application of more than one weld joint to a workpiece (51, 52, 53, or 54) to be manufactured. The welding device includes a single energy source and this source is connected with at least two welding heads (9) and (10) for producing both weld joints. The energy produced by welding device (3) is divided over the individual welding heads (9 and 10). This is especially favorable in the case of a welding device (3) with a laser-beam source. The laser beam can be split into several partial laser beams and guided to the individual laser-beam welding heads.
