  • Patent number: H1940
Abstract: In a telecommunications system, components which fail and have backup resources are dynamically remapped to insert the backup resource in place of the failed component. A configuration database containing data for each resource in the switching platform of a telecommunications systems can be dynamically searched to identify backup resource and dynamically updated to reflect addressing and connection data for remapped components, thereby allowing dynamic replacement of failed components in the switching platform that is transparent to the applications processor of the telecommunications system.

  • Patent number: H1941
Abstract: A call processing architecture treats a call connection as having two halves an originating half and a terminating half. An agent is associated with each call half, the originating agent being assigned by a switching center of a telecommunications system to establish the originating half of a call. The originating agent interacts with a translator and router to process the dated digits for a call to route the call to a terminating agent, the terminating agent establishing the terminating half of the call to complete the call connection. An agent interworking protocol (AIP) provides a generic superset protocol containing the common elements and unique elements for all call types so that an originating agent converts its call messages to the AIP and is connected to a terminating agent via an AIP connector, the terminating agent converting the AIP formatted call messages to the native protocol of the terminating agent.

  • Patent number: H1964
Abstract: A telecommunications switching system with a hardware resource manager system. The resource manager interfaces with higher-level system functions such as call processing, OA&M, NMS and system control functions and with lower-level hardware functions embodied in an input/output sub-system (IOSS) containing various hardware resources for interfacing the switching system to other entities. The resource manager controls all interactions between the IOSS hardware and the higher-level functions and hides the hardware specifics of the IOSS, giving the higher-level functions a hardware-independent view of the IOSS resources. As a result, the higher-level functions can operate without modification with a wide variety of IOSS hardware configurations. The resource manager manages the physical interfaces and IOSS resources and is aware of the complete configuration of the IOSS, including all channel addressing information and the state of each IOSS resource.

  • Patent number: H1853
Abstract: A system, and associated methods, for generating a user interface with respect to a server are provided. The system includes a client engine, which is connected by a real or virtual connection to an interface repository, an object interface module, a server interface module, and a user interface device. The client engine has the capability to transmit a request for an object reference to the object interface module, and to receive an object reference from the object interface module. The client engine also has the capability to request object type definition data from the interface repository based on the object reference and to receive the object type definition data from the interface repository. A user may then invoke a selected method on the server and receive a response generated by the server. The client engine can generate a display on a user interface connected to the client engine based on the object type definition data.

  • Patent number: H1859
Abstract: A system for providing control of redundant components is presented. The system includes two resource modules. The resource module is connected to a data bus, but only the active resource module has control of the data bus. Two call processor systems are connected to the resource modules, and the active call processor is connected to the active resource module. A call processor connection client operating on the resource module transmits a connection request message to the call processor systems. A call processor connection server operating on the call processor system can receive the connection request message and assign the resource module active status.

  • Patent number: H1860
Abstract: In a switching platform of a telecommunications system, fault testing is automatically performed during operation of the switching platform to identify components to be tested, perform testing and if a fail condition occures, perform localization to isolate a source of the fail condition. In another mode of testing, an off-line component is identified and the test procedure automatically performs testing and if a fail condition occurs, a localization procedure is automatically initiated to identify a source of the fail condition. A configuration database containing status information on components of the switching platform can be periodically searched by the fault test procedure to identify components to be tested. The configuration database can also be searched to identify replacement components in response to an alarm identifying a faulty component generated by the fault test procedure.

Abstract: A system for processing data is provided. The system includes a data type detector that determines whether a data frame is a speech/voice data frame or a data/fax data frame. The system further includes a transcoder and rate adapter system that is connected to the data type detector. The data type detector transfers the data frame to the transcoder and rate adapter system if the data frame is a voice data frame. An interworking function system is also connected to the data type detector. The data type detector transfers the data frame to the interworking function system if the data frame is a data/fax data frame.

  • Patent number: H1895
Abstract: In one aspect of the present invention, an application provider, such as a mobile application part provider (52), is provided that includes a table (210), a router (200) and a message converter (220). The table (210) stores information corresponding to a sub-system, such as a visitor location register (46) or a home location register (44), of a first node, such as an integrated wireless telecommunications switch (14). The router (200) analyzes an application part message, such as a mobile application part message, that originated from the first node and compares the information stored in the table to the destination of the application part message to determine if the application part message is destined for the sub-system of the first node. The router (200) communicates the application part message to the first node if the application part message is destined for the sub-system of the first node.
