Patents Assigned to DUOS Engineering (USA), Inc.
  • Patent number: 6589654
Abstract: Construction material from granular material reclaimed from the ash of a municipal waste combustor wherein the ash is subjected to sorting and separating recovered metals, the granular material including particles having a maximum particle diameter of 5 to 40 mm, a U-coefficient of 10 or more, and ignition loss of 10% or less in weight and being subjected to at least one heavy metal immobilization agent, preferably phosphoric acid; and a second heavy metal immobilization agent consisting of ferrous sulfate. The ash is further subjected to drying before subjecting the ash to the at least one heavy metal immobilization agent. The ash is further subjected to mulling the material after subjecting the ash to the at least one heavy metal immobilization agent.

  • Patent number: 6308435
Abstract: An enclosed drainage facility to dry municipal waste combustion ash has a plurality of spaced elongated channels to drain by gravity, water from piles of ash into a disposal or reclamation pool. The channels are sloping concrete ditches leading to a common trough or pipe to a covered storage basin. Steel plates pierced with a plurality of spaced slender slits abut each other to cover each channel. The atmosphere in the facility is changed by being pumped into one side of the facility and exhausted adjacent an opposite side. Also, a process for drying municipal waste combustion ash includes dewatering and drying of ash piles in an atmosphere of warm dry air for a period of time necessary to reduce the moisture to about 28%.

  • Patent number: 5906321
Abstract: A cleaning system for non-ferrous metals for the removal of ash residue and dirt from metals derived from a municipal waste combustor includes an infeed chute for receiving the dirty metals and water from a clean water source. The water and metals are combined in a rotating tumbler for removal of the ash and dirt which is directed to a holding tank. The clean metal is engaged by a rotating upwardly angled drum that includes an internal helix. The metals are moved by the helix to an outlet and pass through a second spray of downwardly directed clean water for further cleaning of the metal. Motor-driven idlers and associated bearings provide for rotation and positioning of the apparatus. A water pump has an inlet from the holding tank and is used to maintain proper level control. An agitation pump prevents the collected ash and debris from settling in the tank.

  • Patent number: 5890663
Abstract: Dry municipal solid waste material is subjected to a two-step magnetic separation process to recover ferrous values therefrom. The process includes passing the raw solid waste material through a shredder to reduce the waste to particles at a size of 3 inches or less, passing the particles through a series of two magnetic fields, recovering ferrous-containing fractions from each passage, combining the two ferrous-containing fractions and subjecting them to air classification in a cyclone separator to recover a clean particulate ferrous product, and a waste byproduct and recycling the waste byproduct to pass again through one or both of the two magnetic fields.
