Patents Assigned to Dynamic Closures
  • Patent number: 10815710
Abstract: A hinge assembly for a folding closure includes a plurality of elongated, planar panels, each of which has a pair of parallel sides, and flanges on each side with the flanges on one side extending in one direction perpendicular to a plane of the panel and the flanges on the other side extending in a second direction opposite to the one direction; and a hinge for pivotally connecting panels in side by side relationship to each other, the hinge including an elongated body having a generally triangular cross section, generally C-shaped grooves extending the length of the body proximate two adjacent corners of the body, the grooves opening in opposite directions for receiving the flanges of adjacent panels and permitting rotation of the panels about a longitudinal axis of the hinge between closure open and closed position, and opposed stops at the open outer ends of the grooves for limiting rotation of the panels between the open and closed position.

  • Patent number: 10107018
Abstract: A locking post for a closure having a locking unit in the middle of the post. The locking unit carries a latch movable transversely of the post between locked and unlocked positions. A bottom lock rod unit is slidably mounted in the bottom part of the post. The lock rod unit has a moving block, a lock rod extending from the bottom end of the moving block, and a rigid strap extending from the top end of the moving block to the locking unit and past the latch. The lock rod unit is movable within the post to move the lock rod from an unlocked position within the post out of the bottom end of the post to a locked position and to move the strap down past the latch. The latch on the locking unit is movable transversely of the post to a locked position in the path of movement of the strap to prevent the strap from returning to is unlocked position. An adjustable connection connects the strap to its moving block in a manner to be able to adjust the length of the lock rod unit.

  • Patent number: 9995073
Abstract: A trolley for use with a folding door to suspend the door from an overhead track. The trolley has a mounting post for use in connecting the trolley to a folding door with a cylindrical mounting axle extending from the post. The trolley has a wheel unit comprising a short wheel axle with a wheel rotatably mounted at each end. The wheel unit is mounted on the post with the mounting axle on the post extending through the wheel axle between the wheels. The post is rotatable relative to the wheel unit.

  • Patent number: 9650823
Abstract: A female locking post for the free end of a folding closure section, with an inner side for connecting the post to the free end, and an outer side opposite the inner side. Two opposed connecting walls connect the inner and outer sides together. An interior wall, spaced from both the inner and outer sides, extends between the connecting walls. A post opening, preferably extending the length of the post, is provided in the outer side between the connecting walls providing access to the interior wall. An operator with a lock bolt is movably mounted on the interior wall, the operator movable along the interior wall between an unlocked position where the lock bolt is within the post and a locked position where the lock bolt projects from an end of the post. A folding closure incorporating the female post is also described.

  • Patent number: 9587424
Abstract: A locking post for a closure, the post having front and rear walls joined at their sides by two side walls to form a tubular post having a generally quadratic cross-sectional shape. Each side wall has a groove therein, the groove parallel to the longitudinal axis of the post, and wide enough and deep enough to at least partly receive a locking element carried by the post. The sides of the groove also provide handles which can be gripped to move a closure the post is mounted on.

  • Patent number: 9493977
Abstract: A locking post for a folding door having two face panels and two end panels, the panels extending the length of the post. A plurality of relatively short, spacers are in the post, including a spacer at each end of the post. First fasteners fasten one face panel to each spacer on one side of each spacer and fasten the other face panel to each spacer on the side of each spacer opposite the one side, the face panels parallel and aligned. Second fastens detachably fasten one end panel to both face panels along one side of the face panels and detachably fasten the other end panel to both face panels on the other side of the face panels, the end panels parallel, the face panels and end panels together providing a tubular enclosure for the spacers.

  • Patent number: 8579008
Abstract: A hinge assembly having a hinge member and two adjacent panels. The hinge member is elongated with an inner surface that is slightly dished. There is an entry slot in the center of the inner surface extending inwardly into the member, the entry slot diverging into two curved branch slots extending in opposite directions. Each panel has a curved hinge element at each side of the panel with one hinge element curved in one direction and the other hinge element curved in the other direction, both hinge elements also curved toward each other. The hinge elements of the adjacent panels are mounted in the hinge member, the hinge elements passing together into the central slot and then diverging from each other into the branch slots. The panels can be moved in the slots between a folded position where they are almost parallel and an unfolded position where they are against the inner surface, almost aligned, and extending away from each other.

  • Patent number: 6742563
Abstract: A rolling grille having a set of horizontal bars, the bar set divided into a lower bar sub-set with a top bar and an upper bar sub-set with a bottom bar. The grille has a row of end plates on each side, the end plates joining the ends of the bars in both bar sub-sets together. Each end plate joins two adjacent bare together, each bar connected to two adjacent plates, the plates aligned when the grille closes an opening. Each end plate has a panel with an inner surface facing inwardly when the grille closes the opening. Bar mounting sections are provided at the top and bottom of each panel. At least one of the top and bottom bar mounting sections in the plates in the lower bar sub-set have a flange comber located to abut on the inner surface of the panel of an adjacent plate when the grille closes an opening. The flange member flange forms the lower bar sub-set into a relatively rigid assembly when an attempt is made to raise the lower sub-set.
