  • Patent number: 6518442
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for removing fluorinated emulsifying agent acids from waste waters, characterized in that the finely dispersed solids in the waste water are stabilized with a nonionic or cationic surfactant or an analogous acting surface active substance, the fluorinated emulsifying agent acids are subsequently bonded on an anion exchange resin and the fluorinated emulsifying agent acids are eluted from the latter.

  • Patent number: 6451914
Abstract: Compositions, consisting essentially of a melt-spinnable polymer component and minor amounts of an emulsion polytetrafluoroethylene micropowder having a melting point sufficiently far above the processing temperature of the polymer component for the micro-powder not to melt during the processing of the polymer component are suitable for producing textile fiber materials.

  • Patent number: 6436244
Abstract: Fluorinated emulsifier acids bound to an anion exchanger resin can be eluted using a mixture of water, a compound of the formula M—X, in which M is an alkali metal or an alkylammonium ion, and X is hydroxyl, fluoride or chloride, and at least one organic solvent which completely dissolves the other components. For work-up of the eluent, this is advantageously subjected to steam distillation until all volatile constituents have been essentially removed, and the emulsifier acid is liberated from the steam distillation residue using a sufficiently strong acid. This emulsifier acid can advantageously be distilled off and collected as the ammonium salt in aqueous ammonia solution.

  • Patent number: 6245923
Abstract: The process for the recovery of highly fluorinated carboxylic acids from off-gas streams, in which the off-gas is brought into contact with an alkaline washing solution of density >1.15 g/cm3 so that the salt of the highly fluorinated carboxylic acid settles out as a separate phase, proceeds particularly advantageously when the alkaline washing solution is a potassium carbonate solution.

  • Patent number: 6149978
Abstract: If hydrophobic substrates are coated--if appropriate under pressure--with an aqueous dispersion of a thermoplastic fluoropolymer having a number-average particle size of up to 100 nm and the fluoropolymer is fixed on the substrate thus impregnated by heat treatment, firmly adhering coatings are obtained.

  • Patent number: 5990330
Abstract: Highly fluorinated carboxylic acids can be removed from exhaust gas streams by scrubbing with concentrated alkali solutions if these alkali solutions have a density high enough for the salt of the highly fluorinated carboxylic acid to separate out as an independent phase. An apparatus suitable therefor contains a scrubber and a separation vessel which is advantageously equipped with a conveying element, a collection vessel connected via an overflow and a circulation line for the scrubbing liquor.
