Abstract: A pivoting flexible cover unit is provided for a spill containment pallet. The unit has a pair of pivot supports for attachment to side walls of the pallet and pivot means on each. A plurality of telescoping support bars extend from the pivot means across the spill containment pallet. At least one spacing strap is secured to each of the support bars to maintain a spacing for the support bars, with one end of the strap secured to a first support bar and the other end secured to a last support bar. A flexible cover, supported by the plurality of support bars, is attached to the first support bar and the last support bar. The flexible cover covers any drums placed on the grate when the support bars are in a covering-arrangement, and access to any drums on the grate is provided from the rear or front of the pallet, when in an open-arrangement.

The cabinet has a door panel serving as a door, the door panel being symmetric about a horizontal centerline; a back panel; a pair of side panels, each side panel being symmetric about a horizontal centerline; and a top panel and a bottom panel, each arranged to connect to the back and side panels, and each having a hinge/latch pin at ends of a front edge. The door panel has a hinge cavity at one end and a door latch at the other end of a top and a bottom edge, to permit latching or hinging of the door panel on the hinge/latch pins.

Abstract: A trailer converter dolly includes a frame bearing a fifth wheel supported by a suspension mechanism, an axle assembly, and a wheel assembly. A drawbar housing secured to the front of the frame moveably receives a drawbar which is configured to move toward and away from a leading truck or trailer, thus adjusting the distance between the towed trailer attached to the trailer converter dolly and a leading truck or trailer. A speed sensor determines the speed of the trailer converter dolly and provides one or more signals relating to the speed of the trailer converter dolly. An automatic adjusting mechanism associated with the moveable drawbar moves the drawbar in response to the one or more speed signals provided by the speed sensor.

Abstract: A fifth wheel apparatus for detachably coupling a trailing vehicle to a towing vehicle is disclosed. An equalizer bridge is supported on a towing vehicle and is pivotable about a roll axis that extends in a direction of towing motion. The equalizer bridge includes first and second arms that extend laterally from respective first and second sides of the roll axis. A fifth wheel head is coupled to the equalizer bridge for movement therewith about the roll axis. The fifth wheel head is pivotable relative to the equalizer bridge about a pitch axis transverse to the roll axis. First and second damping elements are operably interposed between the towing vehicle and the first and second arms, respectively. When the trailing vehicle is attached to the fifth wheel head, the first and second damping elements resist rolling movement of the trailing vehicle about the roll axis during travel over uneven roads.

Abstract: A ramp system for a delivery vehicle for bridging a cargo bed of the vehicle and a ground surface. A series of ramps of the system are easily moved between a use orientation and a stowed orientation with the assistance of torsion springs of the system. The ramps are moveable for placement at various locations across the width of the vehicle and the selected location for use is locked so as to prevent widthwise movement of the ramps during use. No cargo area is used for stowing the ramps when not in use.

Abstract: A ramp for use in bridging from a floor of an ISO standardized intermodal freight container to a placement pad on which the container is placed. An upper lip of the ramp is configured to engage with lower locking lugs of the container, which, although they are not covered by the standard, are found on most containers to be of similar design and located at substantially the same location on each container. The engaged upper lip of the ramp prevents movement of the ramp away from the container and in sideward directions to provide a safe surface for use by workers and equipment when loading or unloading the container.

Abstract: A molded plastic repository for spent smoking materials having separate base and column pieces with connecting portions which are connected for use by a connector which engages the connecting portions. The base and column are molded as a single piece then severed in a plane so as to provide similar connecting portions in relation to the severing plane. The method of fabricating and assembly provides a savings in storing and shipping the repository.

Abstract: A rotating-cover storage shed for storing drums of material which is potentially hazardous to the environment. The shed provides a means for containing any leaking material and also provides for protection from the weather and from unauthorized access to the stored contents. Access to the contents is easily made by rotatably opening one of a pair of rotating cover sections.

Abstract: A non-corrosive dolly for storing containment drums having contained therein material which is potentially hazardous to the environment if spilled or leaked. Components of the dolly form a containment cavity for capturing and containing any spilled or leaked material. A handle, for conveniently moving the dolly and stored drum, is slidably engageable with a base of the dolly when oriented vertically downward, locked to the dolly when in position for use, and restrained for self-storing when oriented vertically upward.

Abstract: A containment tray for a hazardous material spill pallet for storage of hazardous material containing drums. The tray provides a raised support surface for the drums and a chamber for containing spilled or leaking material from the stored drums. Access for pallet lifting member is provided from all four directions of the pallet. The containment trays are nestable for stacking and peripheral edges are reinforced for more solid support when in use and when stacked. Multiple channels along the peripheral edge are provided for attachment of auxiliary devices such as a ramp for ease of placing and removing drums.

Abstract: A mechanism for self-latching access doors of a safety cabinet following sequential self-closing of the doors. Latching takes place between the doors and at a top and bottom frame of the cabinet. A latching arm and two actuating arms extend from a bellcrank which is biased toward a latched position. An interference bar prevents rotation of the bellcrank to the latched position when the doors are open. Upon sequential self-closing of the doors an actuating means slides the interference bar to a position of non-interference with the bellcrank which enables the self-latching action to take place.

Abstract: Molded plastic energy absorbing cushions for protecting columns in facilities such as warehouses or manufacturing plants having forklifts or other such mobile equipment moving about. A pair of cushions, positioned back-to-back surround a column at its base to protect it from colliding equipment. The cushions are hollow with corrugations on their faces to absorb impact of a collision. A cavity is configured in a back of each cushion to add impact absorbing properties.

Abstract: A system for storing industrial drums in a manner allowing convenient dispensing of stored material contents from any of the drums during storage. The system comprises modular components which can be combined in a multitude of configurations to comply with drum storage requirements. When used in combination with means for retaining hazardous-material leaked from the drums or spilled during dispensing, contamination of the environment and/or injury to workplace personnel is prevented. The components of the invention direct the leaked or spilled material to the hazardous-material retaining means. Storage of “hazardous material” as well as other materials is accomplished in a safe and convenient manner.

Abstract: A semi-trailer converter dolly having a dolly wheel axle assembly and a fifth wheel assembly is provided with a mounting assembly for convenient adjustment of the distance between adjacent trailers to optimize the load distribution, maneuverability, and aerodynamics of the trailer rig. The mounting assembly includes mounting brackets that support and interconnect the dolly wheel axle assembly and the fifth wheel assembly for concurrent adjustment of the dolly wheel axle assembly and the fifth wheel assembly along the converter dolly.

Abstract: A safety cabinet for the storage of flammable or combustible materials has doors designed to automatically close in a specified sequence. The door sequencing device has three components: a stop bracket mounted to one door, a cam bracket mounted to the other door and a slide bar with a roller on one end mounted to the inside surface of the top of the safety cabinet. The slide bar is operably associated with the two brackets such that it blocks the movement of the stop bracket on one door until the cam bracket of the other door engages the roller and removes the slide bar from the path of the stop bracket thereby allowing the second door to close.

Abstract: A blow molded combination lid and spill tray has a top wall and a downwardly depending skirt thereabout, the top wall formed from a pair of upper and lower circular walls. The upper and lower circular walls have a central feed circular recess, plurality of circumferentially spaced fused arcuate channels and plurality of second spaced fused arcuate channels with first and second circular hollow sections and first and second radial hollow sections, the hollow sections communicating with a hollow of the downwardly depending skirt. The lid when placed on a supporting surface with the skirt extending upwardly will contain a drum and accumulate spillage or drippage from the drum in the recesses.

Abstract: A salvage drum has a container body and circular lid which are sealed together by a clamp that secures an outwardly extending lip on the container body to an outwardly extending lip on the circular lid. The container body has a plurality of spaced outwardly extending vertical ribs adjacent the body lip and the circular lid has an outwardly extending protective shoulder which is arranged such that the clamp is protected from impact with the ground regardless of tipping over or dropping of the salvage drum. The clamp is also easily stored on and held on the container body ready for use in sealing of the salvage drum.
