Patents Assigned to Eaton Corporaton
  • Publication number: 20180166225
Abstract: An improved electrical contact alloy, useful for example, in vacuum interrupters used in vacuum contactors is provided. The contact alloy according to the disclosed concept comprises copper particles and chromium particles present in a ratio of copper to chromium of 2:3 to 20:1. The electrical contact alloy also comprises particles of a carbide, which reduces the weld break strength of the electrical contact alloy without reducing its interruption performance.

  • Publication number: 20180033569
Abstract: The disclosed concept relates generally to current sense techniques and apparatus for arc fault and ground fault receptacles, e.g., circuit interrupters, and, more particularly, to arc fault and ground fault receptacles including a shunt stationary terminal exhibiting both mechanical and electrical functionality. The shunt stationary terminal is composed of a steel or steel alloy and copper or copper alloy composite having a current shunt integrated therein.

  • Patent number: 8230873
Abstract: A valve assembly is provided that permits adjustable vent flow from the fuel tank vapor space through a bypass vent opening based on a condition in the vapor space after nozzle shutoff. The valve assembly including a first valve, also referred to as a main float, that provides rollover protection and controls venting of the vapor space prior to nozzle shutoff. A secondary closure device, also referred to as a second valve, moves independently of the first valve to control venting of the vapor space after nozzle shutoff through a bypass vent opening formed in the valve housing in response to at least one operating condition in the fuel tank outside of a chamber defined by the valve housing in which a main float moves.

  • Patent number: 8163574
Abstract: A system and method for measuring voltage of a medium to high voltage line conductor is disclosed. The system includes an electrical insulator having a surface and an edge, the surface having an opening therein to allow passage of a line conductor therethrough in a direction generally perpendicular to the surface. The system also includes first and second electrodes positioned about the opening on the surface of the electrical insulator and spaced apart from one another to provide a common capacitive divider signal indicative of a voltage potential of the line conductor.

  • Patent number: 5734263
Abstract: In an electro-optic voltage transducer utilizing a crystal exhibiting birefringence in a fast axis and a slow axis mutually orthogonal to an optic axis in the presence of an electric field produced by the voltage to be measured, the crystal is mounted for angular adjustment relative to the direction of propagation of a light beam passing through the crystal and polarized at an angle to the fast and slow axes to provide adjustment of the effective half-wave voltage of the crystal. Preferably, the crystal is a disk mounted for rotation about an axis perpendicular to the optic axis by temperature sensitive mounts extending perpendicular to radii of the disk in order to provide temperature compensation. Greater angular adjustment, which extends unambiguous voltage measurement above the natural half-wave voltage of the crystal, is provided by securing the temperature responsive mounts to a rotatable support disk.

  • Patent number: 4920859
Abstract: A hydraulic radial piston power transmitting assembly including a hoursing and a back plate with a fixed pintle attached to the back plate which rotatably supports a cylinder block with radially spaced bores and pistons therearound, a drive shaft which drives the cylinder block through a coupling means, a cam ring surrounding the cylinder block which is pivotally connected to the housing allowing limited movement of the ring to vary the piston stroke in the cylinder block and cam ring positioning means including a rotating control arm mounted in the housing, swivel means attached to the cam ring with a spherical surface thereon and a sleeve means slidably received on the control arm means including a lateral bore for sliding receipt of the spherical surface of the swivel means to accommodate the locus of points which define the cam ring's various displacement positions.
