Patents Assigned to EATON CUMMINS AUTOMATED TRANSMISSION TECHNOLOGIES
  • Patent number: 10473542
Abstract: A transmission includes an input shaft and an output shaft, the input shaft selectively accepting a torque input from a prime mover, and the output shaft selectively providing torque output to a driveline. A controller determines a shaft displacement angle representing an angle value of rotational displacement difference between at least two shafts of the transmission, and performs a transmission operation responsive to the shaft displacement angle.

  • Patent number: 10465754
Abstract: A clutch apparatus includes a clutch pack having a plurality of friction disks. The clutch pack will selectively transfer torque from a torque supplying member to a first torque receiving member. The apparatus also includes a first cooling fluid inlet. At least a portion of the fluid is supplied through the first cooling inlet to a first friction surface. The apparatus further includes a second cooling inlet. The fluid is supplied through the second cooling inlet to a second friction surface. The first cooling fluid inlet will selectively supply a greater volumetric flow of the fluid than the volumetric flow of the second cooling inlet.

  • Patent number: 10221897
Abstract: A clutch apparatus includes a clutch pack including a plurality of friction disks having friction surfaces. The clutch pack may include a plurality of cooling inlets. The clutch pack may selectively transfer torque from a torque supplying member to a torque receiving member. The clutch apparatus may include a rotating manifold having at least a first cooling port for directing a cooling fluid to the clutch pack and at least a portion of the rotating manifold may be coupled for rotation with at least a portion of the friction disks. A fluid-flow area of at least a subset of the plurality of cooling inlets may be dissimilar from other of the plurality of cooling inlets for enabling a desired fluid flow to the friction disks.

  • Patent number: 10203033
Abstract: An exemplary transmission system includes a first sensor configured to measure a quantity and output a first signal representative of the quantity measured. A second sensor is configured to separately measure the quantity measured by the first sensor and output a second signal representative of the quantity measured. A transmission control module in communication with the first sensor and the second sensor is configured to process the first signal along a primary processing path, process the second signal along a secondary processing path, compare the processed first signal to the processed second signal to determine if the primary processing path is reliable, and compare the processed first signal to the processed second signal to determine if the first sensor is reliable.

  • Patent number: 9989123
Abstract: A transmission includes a main shaft having two or more main shaft clutches that couple gears to at least one countershaft, and an automated manual transmission coupled to the main shaft via the at least one countershaft. The automated manual transmission includes a front input shaft coupled directly to a main clutch and having a first clutch coupleable to the at least one countershaft, and a rear input shaft coupled to the front input shaft and having a second clutch coupleable to the at least one countershaft. The automated manual transmission is operable to selectively engage the first clutch and the second clutch.
