    Abstract: A method to treat a patient having a pelvic floor dysfunction by establishing a neurostimulator having a processor and a signal generator to generate a stimulation signal. The processor is set to one or more parameters effective in the treating of the patient's pelvic dysfunction when the stimulation signal is applied to a saphenous nerve of the patient. The neurostimulator is configured to provide the stimulation signal to a stimulator in accordance with a stimulation protocol. At least one stimulator is positioned next to a portion of the saphenous nerve of at least one lower limb of a patient. The processor is operationally activated to provide the stimulation signal to the stimulator for treatment of the patient.

    Abstract: A neuromodulation system includes a conductive element, a magnetic field generator, a power module and a computer processor. The conductive element located internal a patient's body. At least a portion of the conductive element is positioned adjacent to a target tissue. The magnetic field generator is positioned external to the patient's body. The magnetic field generator generates a time varying magnetic field for inducing stimulation of the target tissue in combination with the conductive element to produce stimulation that is larger than that which would occur in the absence of the conductive element. The power module supplies power to the magnetic field generator. The computer processor controls the time varying magnetic field provided by the magnetic field generator according to at least one set of stimulation parameters.

    Abstract: A neurostimulation system is disclosed for providing treatment to a patient during a therapy session. The neurostimulation system includes a neurostimulator for transmitting magnetic or electrical signals based upon a treatment program. A programmer is connected to the neurostimulator to set a treatment session parameter value to calculate a therapy compliance value. A compliance module is connected to the neurostimulator and the programmer to calculate and store a therapy compliance value. A control module is connected to the compliance module, the programmer and the neurostimulator and determines whether the therapy compliance value is within a range of the treatment program. The neurostimulator transmits electrical or magnetic signals to the patient in a treatment session only if the therapy compliance value meets a compliance criteria.

A single device can provide treatment of two or more disorders or unwanted states using selected electrode geometries and stimulation protocols. Systems and methods for assessment of candidate stimulation sites and protocols use subjective or objective measures or both to determine which meet stimulation success criteria. Simulation is provided using transcutaneous, percutaneous, or implantable stimulators. A main advantage is the improved treatment of pelvic floor disorders, and especially overactive bladder (OAB).

One embodiment can be used for enhancing the excitation properties of neural tissue. In one embodiment, the system consists of an implant that is used to modify the extracellular potential (i.e. activating function) generated by an independent electrical stimulus generator. Certain aspects of this technology can be applied to any part of the central and peripheral nervous systems. Particular embodiments of this technology provide for therapy related to urological disorders.
