Abstract: A system for removing iron from well water which, in addition to sources of air and water and an iron filter, has a reaction chamber wherein water containing dissolved iron is turbulently mixed with air and after oxidation of the water, excess air is removed through venting means located approximately midway between the ends of the reaction chamber.

Abstract: A demand initiated method for regenerating a water softener which operates the softener ion exchange bed over a capacity range in which the resin is most efficiently restored by exposure to brine. The reserve capacity of the softener is adjusted in response to the amount of softening capacity used since the last regeneration, as is the quantity of saturated brine to be used for the next regeneration, which is scheduled when the reserve capacity is exceeded, or the remaining available capacity will not be adequate for normal usage on the next day of the week.

Abstract: A water softening system using resin beads of two or more ranges of mesh sizes with the quantities of each range of resin sizes being in a predetermined proportion to each other.
Abstract: A countertop faucet assembly adapted to be secured over a hole in a countertop without requiring access to the area below the countertop. A base subassembly of the countertop faucet assembly is secured to the countertop and a faucet and cap assembly is thereafter secured to the base subassembly.

Abstract: A self-contained monitoring system for monitoring the operating condition of a fluid treatment device. A housing provides a pair of flow passages, one for liquid supplied to, and the other for liquid treated by the fluid treatment device. Separate pairs of electrodes are provided, with one pair of electrodes extending into one of the flow passages and the other pair extending into the other flow passage. The conductivities between each pair of electrodes are provided as signals to an electronic circuit contained within the housing which provides electrical output signals indicative of the operating condition of the fluid treatment device based upon the conductivity of the supplied and treated fluid flows.
Abstract: A liquid treatment apparatus or system having a liquid treatment medium bed which is regenerated by passing through it a solution formed by dissolving a solid in a liquid. An automatic control system initiates a regeneration cycle when necessary. Indicia are provided in association with the container containing the solid material such that an appropriate indicia will represent the amount of solid material in the container. By providing the control circuit with the indicia, the control circuit will record the amount of solid material remaining and initiate an alarm when the amount of solid material remaining is below a predetermined level.

Abstract: A reverse osmosis water processing and storage system having a prefilter, reverse osmosis membrane assembly, and a storage volume contained within a first tank. The prefilter and reverse osmosis membrane assembly are located within a second tank which is in turn located within an expandable bladder which is received within the first tank. Processed water is stored in the volume provided between the second tank and the expandable bladder.
Abstract: A rotary flow control valve for controlling the cycles of a multicycle liquid treatment apparatus such as a water softener. A pair of rotatable, slotted, circular disks connected to rotate with each other are located in a pair of aligned interconnected cylindrical housings. Rotation of the disks controls the flow of liquid through various paths in the valve. Clamps and clips are provided securing together the parts of the assembled valve.

Abstract: A bypass valve for directing a supply flow either through a treatment tank to the distribution system, or for bypassing the treatment tank and directing the supply flow through the valve directly to the distribution system. In the bypass position, the treatment tank may be physically removed from the bypass valve, the bypass valve serving as a disconnect. While in the bypass position, the valve may be actuated to pressurize the treatment tank from the supply flow.
