  • Patent number: 8132813
Abstract: A spinner anchors to a variety of magnetic and non-magnetic surfaces. The spinner includes a base, a spinner arm rotatably coupled to the base, and an indicator coupled to the spinner arm. The base of the spinner is shaped to receive a coupling member, such as a cylindrical magnet, configured to anchor the spinner to a plurality of surfaces regardless of their orientation and maintain its location relative to the support surface while the spinner arm and indicator rotate.

  • Patent number: 6105535
Abstract: An ant habitat includes an outer transparent member which is vacuum-formed from a plastic sheet of material to have a through opening with an outer flexible perimeter wall. An inner transparent member having an inner flexible perimeter wall is connected through a flange to the outer transparent member to provide a space between the inner and outer flexible perimeter walls for receiving particulate material that will permit ants to burrow therethrough. The outer transparent member has a retainer lip extending above the inner transparent member to prevent the egress of ants.

  • Patent number: 5842871
Abstract: The present invention is an electronic teaching system containing two principal components: a projection frame and a hand-held remote unit. The projection frame mediates the electronic test and holds a transparency on an overhead projector so that the transparency may be projected for an entire class to view. Typically the transparency features a series of questions and possible answers to the questions. The projection frame asks the questions and displays the results of the testing process. In a preferred embodiment the projection frame bears a series of pointers, one for each question. When a given question is asked, the corresponding pointer becomes illuminated. Students participate in the test by matching the correct answer to the appropriate question. The students use the second component of the present invention, the hand-held remote unit which bears a keyboard, to answer the question currently being asked by the projection frame.

  • Patent number: 5471778
Abstract: The present invention provides a collapsible net assembly having a shaft with a main body disposed at one end and two support arms rotatably coupled to opposing sides of the main body for pivotal movement of support rods, which engage the net and are mounted within the support arms, between an open position and a closed position. The opposing sides of the main body comprise inclined surfaces formed within respective planes which converge at a point along the shaft so as to define a generally V-shaped main body. In order to obtain an angular displacement between the support rods in the open position and a parallel arrangement when in the dosed position, the support rods are mounted within the support arms at an angle .alpha. to their respective inclined surfaces. The magnitude of the angle .alpha.

  • Patent number: 5407357
Abstract: The present invention provides an electronic testing device for use in responding to questions of quizzes periodically provided in an educational text book. The testing device itself comprises a rectangular housing either permanently or removably affixed to the back cover of the book, an input section for entering selected answers corresponding to the questions, a logic section for comparing the selected answers with correct answers programmed into memory and an output section for providing immediate and enjoyable audio-visual feedback to the user. In a first embodiment of the present invention, the device comprises a small and compact rectangular housing adapted for permanent affixation or removable attachment to a protruded edge of the back cover of a specific educational book. Alternatively, the device may form a small, portable unit that can be detached from the book for use with quizzes of a plurality of different text books.
