    Abstract: Systems and/or Methods are disclosed for acquiring data from a transceiver responsive to one or more signals that are received at the transceiver from one or more devices. In one embodiment, a transceiver is configured to transmit a signal responsive to having received a first signal from a first device, wherein the signal that is transmitted by the transceiver is configured to trigger a second device to transmit a second signal. The transceiver is further configured to transmit data responsive to having received the second signal that is transmitted by the second device. In other embodiments, a transceiver is configured to receive a signal from a first device over frequencies of a predetermined frequency band that the first device is authorized to use, to receive a signal from a second device over frequencies of the predetermined frequency band and to transmit data responsive to having received both the signal from the first device and the signal from the second device.

    Abstract: Numerous embodiments are provided that may be used to provide enhanced capacity and/or Quality-of-Service for OFDM-based systems such as LTE and/or WiMAX. Various service/device modes and/or applications are also provided. According to embodiments of the invention, a transformation may be performed on a data vector by a transmitter, prior to the transmitter transmitting the data vector, to distribute elements of the data vector over an available frequency space, thus providing robustness to channel anomalies such as fading and/or interference. The transformation may be based upon a Fourier transform or a truncated Butler matrix. At a receiver, an inverse of the transformation may be applied to recover data. The receiver and/or transmitter may be configured with an antenna array that may comprise a two-dimensional lattice of antenna elements, and may further be configured to estimate a number of resolvable signal paths and to form a spatial filter/rake that is matched to the number of resolvable signal paths.

    Abstract: A wireless communications system configured for Low Probability of Intercept (LPI), Low Probability of Detection (LPD) and/or Low Probability of Exploitation (LPE) communications may use waveforms substantially devoid of a cyclostationary signature to improve a LPI/LPD/LPE property. A set of M independent “seed” waveforms that satisfy a time-bandwidth constraint may be used via a Gram-Schmidt Orthogonalization (GSO) procedure to generate M orthonormal functions. In accordance with exemplary embodiments, the M seed waveforms may be chosen from a band-limited Gaussian-distributed process and may be used to generate, via an orthogonalization operation a corresponding set of M Gaussian-distributed orthonormal functions substantially devoid of a cyclostationary property.

    Abstract: An available signal space, whether it is a priori specified or is cognitively determined based upon an assessment of frequency utilization, serves to provide a number of signal dimensions which may be occupied by a number of pseudo-randomly generated waveforms. The number of pseudo-randomly generated waveforms may be based upon a key input to a pseudo-random number generator and a desired statistical distribution, and may be subjected to an orthogonalization procedure to produce a respective number of orthogonal pseudo-random waveforms which may serve as a communications alphabet. A specific data sequence to be communicated may be associated with a respective specific element/member of the orthogonal pseudo-random waveforms and that specific element/member may be transmitted in lieu of the specific data sequence.

Some embodiments maintain all desirable features of classical direct-sequence spread-spectrum communications while providing new dimensions that are important to communications systems. Embodiments of the invention can provide M-ary orthonormal signaling with chipless spread-spectrum waveforms to provide extreme covertness and privacy.

Vehicles proximate to such Interrogators respond with unique identifying information and with parameter lists provided by their vehicular sensors. Each Interrogator inquiry can provide data, including the lawful parameter limits (i.e. speed limit) associated with its location. In response to having successfully decoded an inquiry, and in response to the state of its vehicular sensors, a vehicular Transponder may transmit information to the specific Interrogator that has issued an inquiry.
