Patents Assigned to Eisenwerk Bruehl GmbH
  • Patent number: 6070562
Abstract: A cylinder block for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine with a multi-bearing crankshaft and a water jacket surrounding the cylinders. The outer wall of the water jacket extends downwards approximately into a parting plane of the crankshaft bearings. A base frame rests against and is connected to a contact surface formed by a circumferential free edge of the water jacket outer wall. The crankshaft bearings are arranged on the base frame and detachable bearing caps are arranged and fastened by screws on the side of the base frame facing the cylinders.

  • Patent number: 6003588
Abstract: A process for inserting cores into a casting mold includes inserting a plurality of individual cores into a template; forming a core group by joining together the plurality of individual cores within the template using a bracing and securing device which is detachable; dipping the core group into a founder's black bath to provide a coated core group; drying the coated core group; inserting the core group after drying into the casting mold; and removing the bracing and securing device. The process advantageously additionally includes providing a plurality of core groups that form a core assembly for a casting mold; forming a core set by joining together the plurality of core groups using a bracing and securing device; dipping the core set into a founder's black bath to provide a coated core set; drying the coated core set; inserting the core set after drying into the casting mold; and removing the bracing and securing device.

  • Patent number: 5954113
Abstract: A method for producing light metal castings, in particular cylinder heads, cylinder blocks and/or crankcases for internal combustion engines, includes a sand mold which forms a mold cavity for the casting. The sand mold includes outer mold parts, at least one core and at least one feeder for forming a riser, wherein the mold is provided with an in-gate for receiving the metal melt and the metal melt is filled into the mold cavity under the effect of gravity. A cover core (5) is fitted onto the mold that is at least in partial regions designed to be impermeable to gas and which contains at least one feeder, and wherein immediately after the filling operation, the feeder filled with metal melt is admitted with a pressure via a pressurized gas.

  • Patent number: 5501189
Abstract: A cast iron cylinder block for an internal combustion engine having a crankcase which defines a region for crankshaft bearings. The cylinder block includes: at least two contiguous cylinders having a dividing plane therebetween; a support web interposed between the cylinders and the crankcase for supporting the cylinders on an upper part of the crankcase, the support web including a bore for fastening screws of a seating for a crankshaft bearing; and a cooling jacket surrounding the at least two contiguous cylinders and including on each side of the two contiguous cylinders, in the dividing plane, at least one reinforcing rib having upper and lower ends and a U-shaped cross-section which defines an inner U-profile extending, at the upper end of the reinforcing rib, into an extension defining a bore for a cylinder head stud screw and extending, at the lower end of the reinforcing rib, into an extension of the bore in the support web.
