Abstract: The invention relates to an illuminating device for a machine tool, in particular, a grinding machine, wherein the illuminating device is arrangeable at a machine table of the machine tool, and is displaceable with the machine table, characterized in that the illuminating device comprises a first housing in which an illuminating module having a number of illuminating means is arranged, and in that a transparent plate is arranged at the first housing on the side of the illuminating means, wherein the transparent plate is configured so as to disperse the light emitted from the illuminating means substantially evenly. Further, a machine tool, in particular, a grinding machine, equipped with the illuminating device according to the invention is provided by the invention.
