Patent number: 4847458Abstract: An electric switch which translates a pivotable toggle motion to a rectilinear contact engaging and breaking movement, including an actuator assembly and a contact assembly which are clamped together during assembly with a face plate. The actuator assembly facilitates assembly by capturing a pivotable operating lever between a halo which adapts the actuator assembly to a face plate, and a halo adapter which adapts the actuator assembly to the contact assembly. The contact assembly includes a movable contact carrier to which a cam is fixed. The cam includes a recess which defines spaced lateral stops, and a cam surface which slopes axially inward between the spaced lateral stops, with the operating lever having a cam actuator end which enters the recess and rides on the cam surface.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 1988Date of Patent: July 11, 1989Assignee: Adams Elevator Equipment CompanyInventor: Adolf H. Patent number: 4728756Abstract: A multiple position, multiple contact key switch, and method of constructing same, including an electrical contact module having a housing defined by first and second separable housing members which snap together in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal rotational axis of the key switch. The first and second housing members each carry contact sets which alternate with one another along the longitudinal axis. Each housing member includes posts which extend towards the opposing housing member, to maintain the desired positions of the elements of the contact sets carried by the opposing housing member. An arbor is mounted for rotation within the housing, with the arbor having cams spaced along the rotational axis for actuating the contact sets. A halo module and a lock module form a subassembly which is coupled with the electrical contact module, with adjacent ends of the lock module and electrical contact module engaging to transmit rotary motion of the lock module to rotary motion of the arbor.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1986Date of Patent: March 1, 1988Assignee: Adams Elevator Equipment CompanyInventor: Adolf H. Patent number: 4689456Abstract: A two-position key switch of modular construction including an electrical contact module, a lock module, and a halo module, with the lock module being mounted in the halo module to provide a subassembly which is fixed to the electrical contact module. First and second cam members respectively associated with the electrical contact module and the lock module translate rotary motion of a rotary core of the lock module to rectilinear motion of an actuator element of the electrical contact module.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1986Date of Patent: August 25, 1987Assignee: Adams Elevator Equipment CompanyInventor: Adolf H. Patent number: 4504713Abstract: A push button electrical switch assembly including an actuator biased for resilient reciprocation between predetermined axial limits within a housing. A cover on the housing includes a push button movable between predetermined axial limits. The push button contacts and is biased by the actuator to one of its predetermined axial limits. First electrical contacts are fixed to the housing, and second electrical contacts are carried by the actuator. The second electrical contacts, when urged to a contact-engaging position with the first electrical contacts, pivot against the same bias which biases the actuator, to provide a contact-wiping engagement with the first electrical contacts.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 1983Date of Patent: March 12, 1985Assignee: Adams Elevator Equipment CompanyInventor: Thomas M. Patent number: 4368805Abstract: A control unit for a hydraulic actuated elevator consists of a valve device in the hydraulic circuit wherein the circuit includes a pump, a hydraulic cylinder and its piston for raising and lowering an elevator cab and a reservoir for the hydraulic fluid. The valve device features a rotary disc serving as a valve element slidable to positions which open and close ports leading respectively to the reservoir and the cylinder. A reversible electric motor in a cab demand circuit has a rotary drive to the rotary disc, as, for example, by a pinion and gear, for rotating the rotary disc in response to the cab demand circuit serving to start and stop the motor. In one position of the rotary disc, with both ports closed, hydraulic fluid is passed directly into the cylinder for up travel of the cab. In an intermediate position with the port to the cylinder closed the fluid is locked in the cylinder in stop position of the cab.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1980Date of Patent: January 18, 1983Assignee: Elevator Equipment CompanyInventor: Glen A.
