  • Patent number: 6631730
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for installing a faucet on a top side of a deck. The apparatus includes a threaded member engaged with the faucet and extending through the mounting hole to be rotated from above the deck. A nut is threadedly connected to the threaded member to pass through the mounting hole to the underside of the deck. A second member associated with and parallel to the threaded member engages the nut to prevent rotation thereof during rotation of the threaded member whereby the nut will be shifted up or down along the length of the threaded member. A pair of retaining arms are provided whereby, upon rotation of the threaded member to raise the nut in the direction of the deck, the retaining arms will bend outwardly and engage the underside of the deck to clamp the faucet to the deck.

  • Patent number: 6367138
Abstract: A tool for installing a helical coil insert in a tapped hole formed in a workpiece includes a tubular body having a bore extending along its axis, a mandrel coaxially disposed in the bore of the tubular body, a punch coaxially disposed in a bore of the mandrel, a motor for rotating the mandrel, and an air cylinder for applying an axial force to the punch. The tubular body includes a recess at one end for carrying a helical coil insert in alignment with the bore. An opening in the tubular body allows a user access to the recess. The mandrel is movable from a position retracted from the helical coil insert, to a position engaging the helical coil insert, and to a position installing the helical coil insert a selected depth in the tapped hole of the workpiece. The punch slides axially in the bore of the mandrel to remove the tang from the helical coil insert upon installation of the helical coil insert in the tapped hole.

  • Patent number: 6357110
Abstract: A stud electrical connection method is provided that employs a stud having a patterned external surface and a nut operably secured to the stud in a radially compressive manner, wherein the patterned external surface of the stud comprises a nonconductive coating on a portion thereof. Accordingly, installation of the nut onto the stud creates an electrically conductive path between an attached conductive member and a panel.

  • Patent number: 6347449
Abstract: A portable rivet setting system is provided with a modular design. The portable rivet setting system includes an electronic control module, a pneumatic control module, a rivet feeder device, an escapement mechanism and an umbilical assembly including a rivet setting tool each modularly designed. The modular design improves the ability to react to diagnosed problems and allows the replacement or substitution of a single module while the faulty module can be repaired. The easy replacement or substitution of a module greatly reduces the down time associated with repairing the rivet setting system and allows a user to remove and replace a module with limited technical capabilities.

  • Publication number: 20020007542
Abstract: A setting apparatus 30 in which a mandrel of a blind rivet is inserted into a hole 47 of a nose at the front end of the setting apparatus, and wherein a rivet body of the rivet is projected from the nose into a mounting hole of a workpiece. The mandrel is pulled rearward of the nose with a force capable of breaking the mandrel and expanding a shank of the rivet body so that the rivet is set in the workpiece by the expanded shank and a flange of the rivet body, followed by discharging of the broken mandrel from the setting apparatus. The force for pulling the mandrel is obtained from hydraulic pressure of a hydraulic cylinder 34. The hydraulic pressure is produced by a piston 41 which moves in a pneumatic cylinder 39 adjacent to the hydraulic cylinder. The nose 31 is axially aligned with an apparatus body 33 including the hydraulic cylinder and the pneumatic cylinder 39 along the longitudinal direction of the setting apparatus 30 from the front end to the rear end thereof.
