Abstract: A configuration for treating exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine having a predetermined displacement volume, includes an exhaust gas recirculation line. Exhaust gas flowing through the exhaust gas recirculation line interacts with a turbocharger. A screening layer is provided in the exhaust gas recirculation line upstream of the turobcharger. The screening layer is larger than an average cross section of the exhaust gas recirculation line. A motor vehicle having at least one such configuration is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5979386
Abstract: An assembled hollow shaft, including an inner shaft tube with external functional elements mounted to the tube by radial expansion of axial sections of the tube that lie between the functional elements. Whereby the internal shaft tube is plastically deformed in the expansion sections and the external elements are resiliently deformed in the expansion sections. The functional elements are combined, at least in part, into multiple functional elements that include multiple individual parts which are combined in the axial direction. The parts include non-round individual parts that have annular projections in the axial direction concentric to a base circle. The annular projections have an internal diameter which is slightly larger than an external diameter of the inner shaft tube.

  • Patent number: 5287615
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing a connection between a hollow shaft and design elements slid on to the shaft and having an aperture which corresponds to the outer diameter of the hollow shaft, especially for producing assembled camshafts, crankshafts or transmission shafts by hydraulically expanding the hollow shaft, a process which results in plastic deformation and permanent elastic pretension in the surface layer of the aperture of the slid-on design elements and in the case of which the compressive force in the connected region between the hollow shaft and the aperture is very much higher during the hydraulic expansion process than the remaining compressive force after completion of the expansion process. As a result, there occurs a material-locking connection between the material of the surface layer of the aperture of the design element and the material of the plastically deformed hollow shaft.
