Abstract: The object of the invention is a radio frequency gain follower, in particular for free electron lasers, wherein the equivalent of a variation of the length of the optical cavity is achieved by means of a variation of the time frequency of the packets of electrons that are supplied to the laser by an accelerator machine, in particular a microtron, characterized in that said microtron is driven, through a one or more stage amplifier section, by a frequency generator in turn driven by a function generator.
