  • Patent number: 6651304
Abstract: Method and apparatus for making a contoured muntin bar. A supply of sheet material having a finished surface on at least one side in the form of a coiled ribbon is unwound and fed along a strip path of travel to a punch station. At the punch station a ribbon punching mechanism punches the ribbon at a precisely predetermined locations along the ribbon to form one of a plurality notch patterns that define a portion of a contoured muntin bar. Downstream along the travel path from the punch station the ribbon is fed through a forming station having a succession of forming rolls that define a succession of forming roll nips to bend the ribbon and form a generally closed cross-sectional tube. The rolls form a number of bending stages to produce a muntin bar tube having a contoured shape with raised sides to provide an attractive appearance to a muntin grid.

  • Patent number: 6021771
Abstract: A cutter assembly for installation on the rotary discs of a concrete finishing/stripper machine includes a base member for mounting on the rotary disc of a machine, a cutter member carried on the base member having a plurality of interchangeable cutting edges selectively presentable to a cutting position, a guide channel for constraining the cutter element for movement relative to the base member between first and second positions, and a coil spring for urging the cutter member toward a first of the positions while permitting movement of the cutter element along a path away from the first position and toward a deflected position in response to forces applied to the cutter element caused by obstructions on the surface being finished. The compression or pre-load on the coil spring is adjustable for varying conditions. The entire cutter assembly is readily mountable onto the bottom of the rotating disc and channels thereof by wedges, making set up of the machine quick and easy.

  • Patent number: 5167215
Abstract: A concrete saw mounted on a wheeled housing for making a substantially linear cut in the surface of a masonry slab is provided with a dust removal apparatus. The dust removal apparatus includes a blade guard partially surrounding the circular blade mounted for rotation on the side of the wheeled housing and a pivotally mounted funnel mounted on the blade guard. The funnel is telescopically mounted on a portion of the blade guard and extends between the blade guard and the slab being cut. A bottom edge of the funnel is provided with a rounded bearing surface so that it rides on the surface of the slab. A vacuum machine is connected to an exhaust duct of the funnel so that concrete dust generated during the making of a cut is continuously exhausted through the funnel and a flexible hose to the vacuum machine as a cut is being made.

  • Patent number: 4758050
Abstract: There is disclosed herein a machine for removing coatings from uneven surfaces such as concrete and the like. The machine includes a power system for driving a pair of cutter head assemblies. The cutter head assemblies are rotated in opposite directions to help stabilize the machine and to throw the cuttings out of the way. Each cutter head assembly has a cutter head with a plurality of peripheral sides or facets and cutter bars are spring loaded thereon to allow cutting tools held by the cutter bars to effectively float on the concrete surface and follow uneven sections of the surface. The cutter head assemblies are mounted on the machine so that they can tilt forward and backward and from side to side to facilitate the cutter head assemblies following uneven surfaces.

  • Patent number: 3949699
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for connecting two vessels, such as a tugboat and a barge, to form a composite vessel, are disclosed. The method uses hydraulically powered apparatus completely controlled from one of the vessels to extend a shaft from one vessel toward the other vessel which has apparatus to capture the extended shaft. The method accommodates substantial misalignment between the vessels being connected by permitting lateral adjustment during connection. The apparatus for effecting the connection includes an active member carried by one of the vessels and a passive member carried by the other of the vessels. The active member is hydraulically actuated, includes a longitudinally reciprocable shaft which is actuated by a powered toggle linkage, and includes a release mechanism. The passive member is carried by the other of the vessels and automatically engages the shaft of the active member.
