The mixer consists of a mixer tube, a rotor located in the latter, and an end wall with inlet openings through which the components to be mixed pass into the mixer. In doing so, they first alternately fill chambers arranged on the rotor. The composition then flows out of the chambers through admission openings into the mixing channel, where it can be stirred by mixer blades.

Abstract: Arrangement for mixing multi-component compositions, in particular for dental purposes, comprising a component-extruding device with outlet openings (16, 17) assigned to the components and a mixer (11), the inlet openings of which can be connected to the outlet openings (16, 17) of the extruding device. The inlet and outlet openings of these two parts are enclosed by complementary guiding surfaces of the two parts. They open out diametrically in mutually opposite surface portions of the guiding surfaces. As a result, the compressive forces acting in the region of the inlet and outlet openings on both sides cancel one another out, so that a sealed connection can be ensured even without great structural expenditure.

This is preferably achieved by means of a unit (30) which is assigned to the drive motor (15). The adhesive of the invention is stable even under moist conditions and ensures good promotion of adhesion between a polymer and an organosilicon elastomer.

Abstract: An impression composition which is based on an aziridine-free composition which can be vulcanized at room temperature, and which comprises wax is provided according to the invention. The wax increases the dimensional stability of the composition during mixing and curing. The invention furthermore provides a kit for the preparation of such compositions and a process for the preparation of the wax-containing components of these kits. The wax is dispersed throughout the composition and is prepared by shock-cooling. The wax forms a crystalline network.

Abstract: The invention relates to the use of a mixture which comprises:a) 1-5 weight % (wt. %) of phosphoric acid;b) 10-90 wt. % of phosphoric acid mono- or di- methacrylates;c) 1-15 wt. % of phosphoric acid trimethacrylates; andd) 3-50 wt. % of diphosphates having between two and four methacrylate ester groups;for the preparation of a composition for preparing a tooth surface for joining with a dental composite material. Using the composition according to the invention, a tooth cavity can be prepared in one step for laying a composite filling. A very high adhesive strength is achieved between the tooth matter and the composite material.

Abstract: Polymerizable oligo- and/or polyalkenoic acids are disclosed which are block polymers of different polyalkenoic acids or their derivatives and/or conjugated dienes. These oligo-/polyalkenoic acids are characterized in that they have at least one sequence with acid functions or protected acid functions in the side group and at least one sequence with olefinic double bonds in the side group of the alcohol component of the esters or the amine component of the amides. The use of said polymerizable oligo- and/or polyalkenoic acids for dental/medical purposes is also described.

Compounds of this type and mixtures thereof have outstanding adhesion properties, especially in relation to biological substrates, can be copolymerized with composites based on unsaturated monomers, and are especially appropriate in dentistry and medicine as adhesion promoters, adhesive fillers, or adhesive cement.

Abstract: A capsule for the storage and vibration mixing of two components, particularly for dental uses comprises a mixing chamber in which one of the components is stored, the chamber having an aperture which is closed by means of a removable closure member and a foil bag which can be ruptured without disintegration by the mixing movement is housed in the mixing chamber and contains the other component in liquid form. The liquid component is a high specific gravity liquid such as mercury and the closure member is sealingly secured to that part of the capsule which forms the mixing chamber by a seal which has a predetermined breaking strength, formed conveniently by a weld or adhesive. Externally the closure member presents a cylindrical socket to which can be fitted a cylindrical lever for the purpose of breaking the seal to remove the closure member and allow access to the interior of the mixing chamber for withdrawal of the mix.
