Abstract: A blank is provided for a cup-shaped container to be fabricated of cardboard or the like. The container is of a type comprising substantially rectangular sides which extend upwardly from a bottom and which include rounded corners of the upper edge thereof and an edge flange which projects obliquely downwardly at an angle along the sides. The blank is formed as an integral unit comprising outwardly extending sides which are intergral with a bottom portion and which include a portion that is at least partially bowed when the blank is formed into the container and forms part of the edge flange of the formed container. The edge flange itself comprises an edge flange strip and a reinforcing strip defined by a pair of fold lines in the sides of the blank.

Abstract: In a method for packing of powder formed goods in a container which is hermetically sealable under vacuum, a container blank is formed into an open topped container and a predetermined amount of powder formed product is deposited into the container. The product is slightly compacted by a piston which moves relatively slowly down into the container and presses the product at a relatively low pressure, the piston being then removed. In a second step, the product is compressed by a piston at a relatively high pressure so that the surface of the product is compressed to a level which is below the intended final level of the container. Thereafter the product is subjected to a relatively slight compression by means of a piston which, with a relatively low pressure, is pressed onto the surface of the product. In this third compression step, the relatively low pressure may be followed by a momentary thrust of the piston at a higher pressure.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for packing products in bottom closed containers of cardboard, plastic, glass or the like, without vacuum suction or compression and in a substantially oxygen free atmosphere. A bottom closed container is mounted in a substantially air tight condition on a holder funnel and thereafter a piston in sealed engagement with the inner sides of the container is forced down through the container to the bottom thereof so that the air which is present in the container is forced up to the upper side of the piston. The piston is then withdrawn from the container to thereby exhaust the air which is present above the piston. A protective gas is introduced simultaneously with the withdrawal of the piston at a location underneath the piston and without subjecting the interior of the container to the influence of air as the container is filled with the product to be packed. The filled container is transfered to a station sealing and closing.

Abstract: In a cup formed container formed from a plain punched blank of cardboard or the like laminated with an inner lining blank, the carton is formed by two opposite side pieces folded up from the bottom of the blank so as to form two opposite walls, the remaining two walls being formed by extended ends of the two side pieces and a joint flap, the joint flap being folded upwardly from the bottom, and the extended ends being folded upwardly and inwardly so as to lie adjacent the joint flaps. Two cooperating extended ends and a joint flap thus form the other walls, with the cooperating extended ends forming a joint between their opposing joining edges. The lining blank projects a distance radially outside the joint flaps and above the intended upper edge of the container, the projecting portion of the lining blank forming a projecting lining tongue which is folded over the upper edge of the walls and is attached to the outside of the container over the joint formed by the joining edges of the extended ends.
