Patent number: 7988378Abstract: A friction coupling for locking a shaft relative to a hub is disclosed. The friction coupling includes a radially deformable inner sleeve, a radially deformable outer sleeve, an annular piston which is axially movable relative to the inner sleeve and the outer sleeve, the annular piston having a conical surface, which cooperates with the inner sleeve and/or the outer sleeve and which is arranged to deform the inner sleeve and/or the outer sleeve when the annular piston is moved relative to the inner sleeve and the outer sleeve so as to provide the locking. In at least one embodiment, the friction coupling further includes at least one actuating device to produce a movement of the annular piston for locking the friction coupling, and at least one deactuating device to produce a movement of the annular piston for unlocking the friction coupling. The at least one actuating and deactuating devices are located, seen in the axial direction, on the same side of the annular piston.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2006Date of Patent: August 2, 2011Assignee: ETP Transmission ABInventor: Jens Söderlund

Patent number: 6473954Abstract: A mounting tool for a hydromechanical chuck or mandrel of the type which is clamp connected using a pressure medium in order to clamp connecting a shaft or a shaft tool or a working piece, and in which said shaft or working piece is dismantled from the chuck, and which chuck using a pressure medium in the opposite direction, and which chuck is formed with two separate pressure chambers, a first chamber acting as a clamp connection chamber, and a second chamber acting as a dismantling chamber, which chambers are formed with inlets/outlets provided on opposite sides of the chuck and opening at the periphery thereof.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2000Date of Patent: November 5, 2002Assignees: ETP Transmission AB, AB Sandvik Coromant, Abnox Ltd.Inventors: Niclas Rosberg, Mats Allard, Werner Iseli

Patent number: 6224067Abstract: A hydromechanical chuck intended to be mounted, with one end thereof, in a machine, such as a drilling machine, milling machine, lathe machine etc. and, with the opposite end thereof to releasably hold a shaft tool like a drill, a milling tool, a rotary saw blade, or a rotary grinding roll. The hydromechanical chuck is formed as a cone coupling chuck comprising a inner sleeve which can change is radial dimensions and has a central bore for receiving the shaft of a shaft tool. The inner sleeve is adapted for being radially compressed against the tool shaft. The hydromechanical chuck has a solid outer sleeve which is axially displaceable on the inner sleeve. The inner sleeve and outer sleeve are formed with a matching cone surface, which, upon a displacement of the outer sleeve on the inner sleeve, provides a radial compression of the inner sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1999Date of Patent: May 1, 2001Assignee: ETP Transmission ABInventor: Stefan Lindstrom

Patent number: 5855446Abstract: Hydraulic clamp bushing (13, 14) having a double walled sleeve (7), a hydraulic pressure medium which is trapped in a chamber (5) between the sleeve walls, and a mechanism for pressurizing the pressure medium. One, or both, sleeve walls (7) is/are formed for expanding radially outwards and/or inwards when the pressure medium is pressurized, whereby the clamp bushing is clamped to a shaft, a hub or a similar object, in particular a rotary shaft (17, 18). The pressure medium chamber (5) is formed with angularly inwards or sigma formed bushing ends (9) designed so that the ends are straightened up as a first stage when the clamp bushing is pressurized, whereby the axial ends of the bushing facing the shaft (17, 18) are pressed to the shaft (17,18) thereby providing a straightening up of the bushing (13, 14) on the shaft before the intermediate portions of the sleeve are pressed to the shaft (17, 18).Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1997Date of Patent: January 5, 1999Assignee: ETP Transmission ABInventor: Lennart Disborg

Patent number: 5672026Abstract: Hydraulically actuatable friction clamp coupling of the type which can be used for clamp connecting a sleeve (2) to a drive shaft (3). The clamp coupling includes a shape deformable inner ring (4) which is adapted to engage the sleeve (2), and which, at the outer surface thereof, is formed as a double, counter directed screw having two screw portions (8, 9) which meet substantially at the longitudinal center of the inner ring (4). The screw flange sides of the screw portions have the shape of saw tooth formed cone surfaces (10) as seen in an axial cross section. The outer rings (5, 6) which, at the inner race thereof, are formed with screw like cone surfaces (11) which are saw tooth shaped in a cross section view, match the cone surfaces (10) of the inner ring (4).Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1995Date of Patent: September 30, 1997Assignee: ETP Transmission ABInventor: Lennart Disborg

Patent number: 5462293Abstract: A rotating holder for tools or work pieces includes a chuck in the form of a hydraulic clamp bushing. The clamp bushing comprises a thin inner sleeve or wall, a solid outer sleeve and a plastic or hydraulic pressure medium which is entrapped between the sleeves. The thin inner sleeve is arranged to both center and firmly clamp a rotating tool or work piece when the hydraulic pressure medium is being pressurized. The clamp bushing is integrated with a mounting cone or with a machine spindle by a welding or soldering joint. The clamp bushing is formed with a bore at the periphery thereof for providing an opening to some type of means for pressurizing the hydraulic pressure medium. A protection ring is formed around the periphery of the clamp bushing and is rotatable to at least two positions, in one position of which the protection ring covers the bore for the pressurization means and in another position of which a passageway is opened to the pressurization means.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1994Date of Patent: October 31, 1995Assignee: ETP Transmission ABInventors: Anders Samelius, Bjorn Ohlson, Stefan Lindstrom
