Patents Assigned to Eveready Battery Co., Inc.
  • Patent number: 7043841
Abstract: A shaving apparatus is provided that includes a razor cartridge, a shaving aid dispenser, and a reservoir operable to contain a non-solid shaving aid material. The shaving aid dispenser includes one or more valves disposed within a contact panel. The contact panel is disposed adjacent the cutting edges of the one or more razor blades. Each of the valves is selectively operable between an open position and a closed position. The valves are operated by the normal force of the contact surface applied to the surface to be shaved. The reservoir is in fluid communication with the selectively operable valves.

  • Patent number: 5188909
Abstract: An electrochemical cell employing a safety disconnect device which employs a low melting heat fusible conductive material, such as solder, to secure an outwardly biased external conductive terminal to one terminal of the cell so that when the solder melts, the external conductive terminal is pushed away from the cell thereby breaking electronic contact with the cell.

  • Patent number: 5057382
Abstract: A galvanic cell with a circuit interrupter to protect the cell from excessive current flow. The circuit interrupter is mounted on one end of the metal container which holds the electrodes and electrolyte making up the galvanic cell. The metal container is in electrical contact with one of the electrodes. One part of the circuit interrupter is adhered to the end of the galvanic cell by a layer of adhesive. This part is also in contact with the container and forms an external terminal for the galvanic cell. The part can be of annular configuration and provide a central aperture for access to the other external terminal or to a port used to fill the galvanic cell with electrolyte. In operation, excessive electrical current will cause the end of the cell to bulge, breaking the electrical contact between the external terminal and the container, effectively electrically isolating the container from that external terminal.

  • Patent number: 4963445
Abstract: A spirally wound electrode assembly for use in electrochemical cells has an outer anode layer and an electrically insulating and ionically impermeable overwrap film disposed about the assembly. The outer anode layer has a tab located thereon. The overwrap film is inserted into the assembly between the end of the cathode layer and one of the anode layers. Upon forced discharge of the cell, the portion of the anode with the tab is disconnected in a fuse-like manner from the remainder of the anode, and the circuit is thereby broken.

  • Patent number: 4963446
Abstract: Protruding exposed edges of the foil carrier of an electrode in a jelly roll cell are specially indented inwardly at intervals to facilitate placement of an insulator ring at the top of the cell after insertion of the electrode in the container. Effective insulation of the exposed carrier edges from the container wall and good continuity of contact to the pressure contact means are achieved by the radial indenting of the axial ends of the exposed foil edges toward the axial center at intervals on at least a significant number of the outer turns of the foil coil to form sloped vallues and intermediate sloped ridges between said valleys, said outermost turns of the foil edges being pushed together at said valleys and spaced at said ridges.
