  • Patent number: 11190418
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for monitoring health of each switch of a plurality of switches on a network by selectively mirroring packets transmitted by each switch of the plurality of switches. In some embodiments, control circuitry generates a plurality of mirroring parameters, each mirroring parameter comprising an instruction to mirror a respective type of packet. The control circuitry transmits the plurality of mirroring parameters to each switch of the plurality of switches on the network, and receives, from a switch, a packet that was mirrored by the switch according to a mirroring parameter of the plurality of mirroring parameters. The control circuitry determines the respective type of the packet, executes an analysis of contents of the packet based on the respective type of the packet, and determines a health of the switch based on results of the analysis.

  • Patent number: 11115857
Abstract: Minimum guaranteed wireless network bandwidth is provided to client network devices by monitoring the performance of network connections to identify client network devices experiencing network congestion. Congested network connections are then analyzed to determine the source of the network congestion. Depending upon the source of the network congestion, an embodiment of the invention may undertake steps to either improve the quality of the network connection or to mitigate the impact of this network connection on other network connections. High quality network connections may be allocated additional bandwidth, airtime, or other resources to reduce the network congestion. Low quality network connections are not allocated additional bandwidth, airtime, or other resources. Instead, the impact of this network connection on the other network connections is mitigated.

  • Patent number: 11019028
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses are disclosed herein for automatically assigning nicknames in a SPBM network. In some aspects, a first switch of a plurality of switches in the SPBM network is detected as being designated as responsible for assigning nicknames to the plurality of switches. Control circuitry responsively instantiates, at the nick name server, a DHCP service. The control circuitry detects, at the nickname server, a respective other switch of the plurality of switches in the SPBM network, and responsively assigns, using the DHCP service, a respective IP address for the respective other switch. A host portion of the respective IP address is assigned as the nickname for the respective other switch.

  • Patent number: 11012358
Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for representing a forwarding information base (FIB) in a database. An embodiment operates by organizing forwarding entries of the FIB in a trie data structure. The embodiment determines that a first routing prefix of a first forwarding entry in the trie data structure is a less specific routing prefix than a second routing prefix in a second forwarding entry in the trie data structure based on the first forwarding entry being a parent of the second forwarding entry. The embodiment determines that a first next hop of the first routing prefix is equal to a second next hop of the second routing prefix. The embodiment removes the second forwarding entry from the trie data structure. The embodiment then inserts the first forwarding entry into the database based on a prefix length of the first routing prefix.

  • Patent number: 11012765
Abstract: A system is configured to manage connectors configured to engage with corresponding connector ports. The system maintains the relative position of the connectors. For example, the connectors can be plugged into, or unplugged from, a network component, while retaining a desired arrangement. In some embodiments, the system includes one or more connector blocks, one or more cable blocks, one or more crossbars, one or more latching mechanisms, or a combination thereof. The connector blocks engage the connector tab of each connector, allowing the connector to be inserted/removed without a user having to engage/disengage each connector tab by hand. The cable blocks maintain a relative position among connectors and cables. The crossbar rigidly couples the connector blocks together and provides a rigid connection to a mounting reference such as, for example, a standard networking rack. The latching mechanisms secure and release the crossbar from the mounting reference.

  • Patent number: 10999200
Abstract: Techniques for enabling offline, intelligent load balancing of Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) traffic are provided. According to one embodiment, a load balancer can receive one or more SCTP packets that have been replicated from a network being monitored. The load balancer can further recover an SCTP message from the one or more SCTP packets and can map the SCTP message to an egress port based on one or more parameters decoded from the SCTP message and one or more rules. The load balancer can then transmit the SCTP message out of the egress port towards an analytic probe or tool for analysis.

  • Patent number: 10965738
Abstract: Techniques for correlating and load balancing IMS traffic in a visibility network are provided. According to one set of embodiments, a packet broker of the visibility network can receive IMS traffic replicated from an IMS core network and identify control/data packets in the IMS traffic that are part of the same IMS session based on FROM and TO user identities included in the packets. The packet broker can then generate a unique session identifier for the IMS session and add the generated session identifier to the packets. In certain embodiments, the packet broker can further provide the generated session identifier as input to a load balancing algorithm or rule set. The load balancing algorithm or rule set can output an egress port of the packet broker through which the control/data packets should be forwarded based on the session identifier.

  • Patent number: 10966215
Abstract: Wireless networking devices scan for available channels and gather data about the channels and the RF environment. Using this information, each wireless networking device determines a cost value for each available channel and a quality value for its overall RF neighborhood. Each wireless networking device select the channel with the best cost value as a candidate channel for use. The wireless networking devices may submit channel requests to the arbiter for approval. If two or more wireless networking devices are requesting the same channel, the arbiter assigns the channel to the wireless networking device with the worst RF neighborhood quality. The arbiter informs the wireless networking devices if their channel requests are approved. If a wireless networking device's channel request is not approved, the wireless networking device will rescan the remaining available channels to select a different candidate channel to be approved.
