Publication number: 20200398807Abstract: A brake actuator for a railway vehicle brake system has a thrust sleeve configured to provide braking force to the brake system, and a slide axially moveable in the thrust sleeve between a release position and a locking position. The actuator further has a piston biased by spring means and linked to an anchoring member. A plurality of balls are disposed in respective openings of the sleeve between the slide and the anchoring member. In the locking position, the balls are configured to move under the action of a profiled surface of the slide to axially couple the anchoring member with the sleeve. In the release position, the balls are configured to axially uncouple the anchoring member from the sleeve. The profiled slide surface has a locking groove configured to engagingly receive the balls when the slide is in the locking position.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 8, 2019Publication date: December 24, 2020Applicant: FAIVELEY TRANSPORT NORDIC ABInventors: Tobias PERSSON, Gustav REHNBORG

Patent number: 10207692Abstract: A parking brake arrangement for a brake unit—also having a service brake actuator—has in a housing (4) a clock spring (10) for exercising a rotary motion at will on a parking brake gear wheel (8) in drive connection with a device (5-7) for delivering brake force from the brake unit (1). The arrangement has two axially movable control sleeves (15, 16) in drive connection with the clock spring (10). The control sleeves form clutches (8?, 15 and 12, 16, respectively) with the parking brake gear wheel (8) and the housing (4), respectively. There are means (13, 18-21) for controlling the axial movements of the two control sleeves and the engagement of the two clutches in such a way that either one of them is always in engagement.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2016Date of Patent: February 19, 2019Assignee: FAIVELEY TRANSPORT NORDIC ABInventor: Tobias Persson

Patent number: 9108650Abstract: A rail vehicle brake actuator (1) has a brake block holder (4) suspended therefrom so as to be laterally movable during braking. Upper ends of brake block hangers (5) are attached to brackets (2) on the actuator (1) by a joint (15) allowing relative laterally pivotable and rotatable movements of lower ends of the brake block hangers to the brake block holder. The lower ends of the brake block hangers (5) are laterally pivotally attached to a movable brake block holder axle (16) extending through a transverse bore in the brake block holder (4), and spring mechanisms (21) are arranged to act between the respective brake block hangers and the brake block holder.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2012Date of Patent: August 18, 2015Assignee: Faiveley Transport Nordic ABInventor: Magnus Lundgren

Patent number: 8807296Abstract: A brake unit, preferably for a rail vehicle, including in a housing: a piston, and a push rod in the form of a spindle in an axial slack adjuster. The axial directions of the piston and the push rod are substantially perpendicular to each other, and means are provided for force transmission between these parts. The force transmitting means includes wedge elements at the underside of the piston cooperating with a driver element coaxial with and force-transmittingly connected to the spindle. The driver element is supported with rolling friction by the housing for movements in the axial direction of the spindle, and the spindle is axially guided by the housing at its forward end.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2006Date of Patent: August 19, 2014Assignee: Faiveley Transport Nordic ABInventor: Johan Martensson

Publication number: 20140090936Abstract: A rail vehicle brake actuator (1) has a brake block holder (4) suspended therefrom so as to be laterally movable during braking. Brake block hangers (5) are attached at their upper ends to brackets (2) on the actuator (1) by means of a joint (15) allowing relative laterally pivotable and rotatable movements and at their lower ends to the brake block holder. The lower ends of the brake block hangers (5), which are rigid, are laterally pivotally attached to a movable brake block holder axle (16) extending through a transverse bore in the brake block holder (4), and spring means (21) are arranged between the respective brake block hangers and the brake block holder.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 4, 2011Publication date: April 3, 2014Applicant: Faiveley Transport Nordic ABInventor: Magnus Lundgren

Patent number: 8307961Abstract: A rail vehicle brake slack adjuster comprises an axially movable, sleeve-shaped driver element (22) adapted to receive an axially applied braking force in a brake application direction, a spindle (16) axially movable within the driver element, an adjuster nut (34) in non-self-locking thread engagement with the spindle, clutch means between the driver element and the adjuster nut, and a barrel spring (30) biasing the spindle in the brake application direction. The adjuster has a combination of a first clutch (36) comprising a clutch surface on the driver element (22) directed in the brake application direction and a corresponding clutch surface on the adjuster nut (34) and a second clutch (38) comprising a clutch surface on the driver element (22) directed in the direction opposite to the brake application direction and a corresponding clutch surface on an adjuster nut sleeve (37). The adjuster nut sleeve (37) is axially movable on the adjuster nut (34).Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2008Date of Patent: November 13, 2012Assignee: Faiveley Transport Nordic ABInventor: Fred Emilsson

Patent number: 8006812Abstract: A disc brake caliper for a rail vehicle comprises brake pad holders suspended—at either side of a brake disc to be braked—for movements only in a plane perpendicular to a substantially horizontal center-line of the caliper. Members of the caliper for transmitting movements from a brake unit to the brake pad holders are suspended from the vehicle via only elements of rubber-elastic material in an elastic joint allowing movements to a certain extent of said members in all directions. The elastic joint comprises at least one plate-shaped rubber-elastic element, which is substantially horizontally mounted in compression between a part for attachment to the vehicle and one of said members of the caliper.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2008Date of Patent: August 30, 2011Assignee: Faiveley Transport Nordic ABInventors: Fred Emilsson, Ulla Melin Emilsson, legal representative, Johan Martensson, legal representative
