The article 10 has opposite extremities provided with closing side panels 16 extending laterally starting from at least one of said opposite extremities. The side panels 16 have proximal margins 160 connected to the body 12 in positions interposed between the topsheet 13 and the backsheet 14. In particular, the above-said proximal margins 160 of the side panels 16 are connected by thermal welding or ultrasound welding 170 to the topsheet 13 and adhesively 190 to the backsheet 14.

Abstract: An extensible laminar material 100 includes an extensible layer 106 coupled to at least one laminar layer 102, 104. The extension of the extensible layer 106 starting from a non-extended condition determines the extension of the laminar layer(s) 102, 104 while the return of the extensible layer 106 toward the non-extended condition determines the pulling of the laminar layer(s) 102, 104 into a wrinkled condition. The extensible layer 106 and at least one laminar layer 102, 104 are connected by welding to avoid their detachment. The extensible layer 106 is anchored to at least one laminar layer 102, 104 by lines of spread adhesive 108, 108?. The welded connection is absent in correspondence of the lines of spread adhesive 108, 108?. Preferably, the material is in the form of a web 100 extensible transversally to the longitudinal extension of the web with the lines of spread adhesive 108, 108? extending along the sides of the web.

Abstract: Described herein is a side panel for sanitary articles that can be worn as pants, such as baby diapers or sanitary towels, with a main body, which can assume a general U-shaped configuration, with end parts arranged on the front and on the back of the body of the user, and with at least one aforesaid side panel for connecting the aforesaid end parts on each side of the user. The side panel has an as a whole tapered pattern starting from a proximal edge to be fixed on the main body of the article and a distal edge carrying a connection formation for closing the article itself around the waistline of the user. The panel has, in connection with the proximal edge and distal edge, two end sides inclined with respect to the general direction of extension of the aforesaid proximal edge and distal edge.

Abstract: A device for splicing the free end of a strip of web material to a homologous strip of web material being supplied includes a first moving element and a second moving element, each of which is able to function alternatively as retention structure for the free end and as guiding structure for the web. The moving elements are, at least in part, translatable with respect to one another for connecting the free end to the web, performing the operation of splicing. The first and the second moving elements are selectively orientable between a position of opening, in which the moving element has a gripping formation exposed to receive the free end, and a position of closing, in which the gripping formation faces the other moving element of the device to allow the free end to connect to the web.

Abstract: A device for carrying out a “re-pitching” operation, i.e., an operation for changing the pitch between articles included in a flow of moving articles, includes one or more elements for conveying the articles, which are able to perform an orbital movement about a principal axis between a position for pick-up and a position for release of the articles. The speed of the orbital movement is selectively variable in the passage between the position for pick-up and the position for release. Members are provided for distribution of subatmospheric pressure to the conveying elements to enable them to carry out selectively an action of suction to pick up the articles. The members include a distributor, which can turn about the aforesaid principal axis. Set between the rotating distributor and each conveying element is a respective flexible pipe or hose for transferring the subatmospheric pressure to the conveying element.

Abstract: A device for carrying out a repitching operation, i.e., for changing the pitch between articles (A) comprised in a flow of moving articles, includes one or more conveying elements (12) for the articles (A) that are to follow a path of orbital movement about a principal axis (X10) between a position of picking-up (T) and a position of release (G) of the articles (A) themselves. The speed of said orbital movement is selectively variable (39, 37, 36) in the passage between the aforesaid positions of picking-up (T) and of release (G) so as to modify the pitch between the articles (A) carried by the conveying elements (12). Said conveying elements (12) are likewise orientable about a respective axis (X12) oriented in a radial direction with respect to the principal axis (X10) so as to modify the orientation of the articles (A) in the passage between the position of picking-up (T) and the position of release (G).

Abstract: A device for subjecting to laser treatment articles, in particular articles chosen between sanitary products and components of said products, comprises a laser-beam source configured for applying to the articles a laser spot with a diameter of between 50 ?m and 2000 ?m. Preferentially, the laser spot has a wavelength of between 9.0 ?m and 11.0 ?m The control unit is configured to regulate jointly the power of the laser spot, the instantaneous relative speed of the laser spot with respect to the article treated, and the instantaneous diameter of the treatment laser spot.

Abstract: Described herein is a system for controlling advance of a web material having characteristics of extensibility and comprising successive stretches of web for the production of respective articles, such as sanitary articles. In the passage from a delivery assembly to a treatment station functioning cyclically, the web material is subjected to extension. In order to ensure proper alignment of the individual articles with patterns or decorations provided thereon, the web must be fed to the treatment station in phase with the position reached by the treatment station within its operating cycle. A position sensor enables detection, for each stretch of web, of a real position of operation of the treatment station used for feeding the stretch of web itself to the treatment station with the aforesaid given phase relationship.

The base branch and the distal branch are connected together according to a general book-like configuration. A dorsal part of the book-like configuration for connection between the base and the distal branches is set at a distance from said intermediate plane, the base branch connects the two parts to form a single body, each of which can connect mutually facing edges of the end parts of an absorbent sanitary product and to ensure the fastening of the flaps set on the sides. The fastening element can enable releasing and refastening the product and/or adjusting the fit of the product to the wearer's body.

Abstract: A fastening element for absorbent sanitary products having first and second parts that are symmetrical with respect to an intermediate plane, each part including a base branch configured to connect to the first part, and a distal branch configured to connect to the second part. The base branch and the distal branch are connected together according to a general book-like configuration. A dorsal part of the book-like configuration for connection between the base and the distal branches is set at a distance from said intermediate plane, the base branch connects the two parts to form a single body, each of which can connect mutually facing edges of the end parts of an absorbent sanitary product and to ensure the fastening of the flaps set on the sides. The topsheet, the backsheet, and the absorbent core form a layered assembly including a front region, a back region, and a crotch region disposed between the front region and the back region. The garment is characterized by a vertical longitudinal plane that extends substantially centrally through the front, back and crotch regions. Each of the front and back regions includes a pair of ear portions extending in substantially opposite lateral directions with respect to the longitudinal plane. Each ear portion is a breathable stretchable layer assembly having a plurality of vent sites. Further, each ear portion includes an outer layer that is an extension of the backsheet and which extends laterally to the side edge of the ear portion, and an inner layer that is an extension of the topsheet and which also extends laterally to the side edge of the ear portion.

Abstract: A source for supplying lengths of adhesive tape applies such adhesive elements with their outer surfaces facing outwards onto a gripping element consisting of a rotating drum. The drum in question applies the adhesive element on the outer surface of a reel of web material in such a way as to establish adhesive connection with the latter. As a result of a subsequent movement of the drum with respect to the reel, there is formed a loop of web material. Since the loop is separate from the reel, it can undergo a cutting action with the consequent formation of a free flap that can be used for unreeling the web material from the reel. After the web material has been unreeled for a certain stretch and the portion on which the aforesaid adhesive element was applied has been eliminated, on the same web material there may be applied a further adhesive element which is left uncovered for at least part of its surface provided with adhesive.

Abstract: A process for making packs of interleaved laminar articles, comprising the operations of: providing a first plurality of strips of laminar material, subjecting these strips to a first interleaving operation so as to create a composite strip having an interleaved structure in which the strips located at terminal positions have corresponding outer limbs which project with respect to the said composite strip, cutting the composite strip into lengths through a transverse cutting operation so as to give rise to successive separate lengths of the said composite strip, and subjecting a second plurality of the said pieces to a second interleaving operation performed by making use of the said projecting limbs so as to give rise to a further composite strip comprising interleaved strips in a number identified by the product of the said first and the said second pluralities.
