  • Patent number: 6347635
Abstract: A hand operated self-contained apparatus for applying an image on a nail of a person's digit or an object that has an integrally molded base having a reference line indicated and a supporting area for receiving an image creating plate containing at least one image for creating thereon an image composed of an image defining coating material. A digit positioning member is mounted on the base and positions a person's digit relative to the location of the created image. A transfer member is mounted on the base and moves between the image creating plate and the person's nail. The transfer member contains a squeegee for removing excess coating material from an image and a pick up pad for picking up a created image. The positioning member has one element mounted and biased for movement vertically for holding the end of the digit and another element mounted and biased for movement horizontally against which the end of the digit or object abuts.

  • Patent number: 6345470
Abstract: A self-contained automatic watering method and system for plants that includes a container made up of an inner and outer pot nested together to define an annular space which serves as a reservoir for water to be used for watering a plant held in the inner pot. A distributor in the form of an inclined wall is located on the container at least partially surrounding a plant held in the container. A housing is easily detachably mounted on said container and extends into the reservoir. The housing contains a pump, a motor to drive the pump, and a conduit leading from the pump to the distributor for directing water into a plant held in the inner pot, and a controller for controlling the motor to initiate watering cycles according to a preselected program regarding the frequency of watering and quantity of water.

  • Patent number: 6189541
Abstract: A hand operated self-contained machine made out of molded plastic for applying an image on a nail of a person's digit or a golf ball includes a base frame including side rails. An element is provided to establish a reference point. An image creating holder is integrally molded to the side rails. A wheel having projections holding a plate containing a plurality of images is supported on the holder and can be indexed to any one of a plurality of positions by the interaction of the projections and the holder. An image composed of an image defining coating material is created at one image position on the plate. A positioning member receives and adjustably positions a person's digit or object in an appropriate orientation relative to the reference point. A transfer member is mounted on the side rails and a manually operable drive member drives the transfer member in a continuous smooth movement. A method is provided wherein the support of the image plate is indexed to present a new image.

  • Patent number: 6029673
Abstract: A self-hand-operated, self-contained apparatus and method for applying an image on a nail of a person's digit. The apparatus is simple in construction and operation, and consists of a molded base having an upper extending surface defining a digit cutout at one end and an image creating plate cutout at the other end. A carriage holding a pick-up head and squeegee slides on the base and carries an image from the plate to the nail. A combined stop and pointing element is fixed on the base and points to the area where the image is to be deposited. The method applies art to the nail as a single color or multi-color image.

  • Patent number: 5960798
Abstract: A hand-operated apparatus for applying an image on a person's fingernail consisting of a base having an upper surface defining a first cutout. A stop is provided to establish a reference point. An image creating plate is received in the first cutout for creating an image composed of an image defining coating material. A digit positioning member having a V-shaped groove receives and positions a person's digit relative to the location of the created image. An orientation surface is defined by the base against which the free end of the person's digit bears to establish, in cooperation with the V-shaped groove, the appropriate orientation relative to the reference point. A transfer member is mounted on the base movable over the upper surface for transferring the created image from the image creating plate to the person's nail. A method for applying an art image on a person's nail in which a reference point is established.

  • Patent number: 5316026
Abstract: Method and apparatus for making a decorative pattern on a finger or toe nail using fixture that may be a two part hinged fixture that receives a screen and holds it in juxtaposition to a nail. Articulated arms or a base plate position the fixture relative to the finger or toe, with the nail exposed through the fixture. A screen is inserted into the fixture. A coloring liquid is put onto the screen and is expressed through the screen by a squeegee that coacts with the fixture and resiliently deflects the screen. The part of the fixture holding the screen can be pivoted up and away from the nail to avoid smearing and facilitate changing of the screen. Multi-color patterns can be made by using a plurality of screens with different coloring liquids, such as nail polishes or lacquers.
