  • Patent number: 4679505
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a 12-gauge 00 buckshot shotshell having a definitely improved pattern accuracy because of the manner in which the pellets are stacked within the casing prior to firing. The 00 pellets are stacked within a relatively thick-walled casing, or within a relatively thick-walled sleeve within the casing, in single pairs superimposed one upon the other, each pair nesting with its adjacent pair in a common nesting zone and none of the centers of the pellets being disposed within such a nesting zone. The casing must have an effective internal diameter of less than 2.154 times the diameter of the 00 buckshot pellets. The pellets may be stacked so that the two pellets of most of the pairs are slightly axially off-set relative to each other, and so that each pellet is arranged along one of a pair of separate varying helical paths about the axis of the casing.

  • Patent number: 4590840
Abstract: Apparatus and method for covering flash holes in a primer battery cup where the anvil is formed integrally with the battery cup. A tooling apparatus including a tubular foiling pin, and a cutting die plate which, in cooperation with the outside rim of the primer battery cup, blanks out an imperforate, covering-medium disk. As the tubular foiling pin continues to descend into the battery cup, the paper is pierced and slit by the anvil point of the battery cup. The blanked and now perforated disk is inserted further into the battery cup by the foiling pin and seated over the flash holes at the bottom of the cup around the anvil.

  • Patent number: 4514352
Abstract: A single-piece plastic shotshell casing and method of making same comprising softening one end portion only of a tube of uniformly biaxially oriented high density polyethylene sufficiently for forming and until a dollup is formed, then telescoping only a portion of the dollup into the rigid sidewalls of the tube, and then forming the dollup into a substantially thickened integral transverse base section constituting a head with a longitudinally extending primer opening therein, the base section being substantially biaxially oriented and the rigid sidewalls terminating a substantial distance inwardly from the outer end of the base section.

  • Patent number: 4398564
Abstract: A sealed lay-in wireway comprised of channel members secured together in end-to-end relation with sealing flange gaskets thereinbetween and having longitudinally spaced covers having resilient gaskets extending continuously along their periphery and having a pivotally mounted bridging member extending along their open sides between the adjacent ends of their covers which shiftably mounts a sealing plate thereunder, the sealing plate having gasket material at each of its ends which bears against inwardly extending flanges of the channel members when drawn upwardly by a camming mechanism carried by the bridging member, the upper surface of the sealing plate at the same time bearing against gasket material carried by the ends of the covers to cooperatively perfect a seal at all of the joints.

  • Patent number: 4077434
Abstract: A sealed lay-in electrical conduit duct which is oil-tight and is comprised of U-shaped sealing collars which telescope into adjacent ends of aligned open ended sheet metal duct sections which are troughs generally U-shaped in cross-section and have their open sides unobstructed throughout their length and closable by a movable sealing trough cover. The sealing collars and duct sections have telescoping bottom and side wall portions, each of which carries elongated cooperating interengaging rib and groove elements which are aligned and extend normally to the longitudinal axis of the duct sections. Each collar member carries a sealing element extending throughout substantially its entire length which covers and seals the line of juncture of the adjacent ends of trough sections held in rigid aligned relation by the collar member.
