Patents Assigned to Fence Hardware Specialties, Inc.
  • Patent number: 5167049
Abstract: The invention is a gate hinge comprising a male half with a rod extending upward from it and a female half with a sleeve which fits over the rod and swivels on the rod. Both the male and female halves have "U"-shaped portions extending outward at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the rod. Each "U"-shaped portion has two legs which fit around either a square gate post or a square fence post. Each leg has a square shoulder which fits around either the gate post or the fence post and an opening through which a bolt extends as a means of securing the hinge to the posts. The square shoulders force proper alignment of the hinge with the posts when the bolts are tightened and prevent up and down movement or tilt of the hinge when a heavy load is applied, such as a heavy gate.

  • Patent number: 5136813
Abstract: A cantilever-type gate which can be shipped in a disassembled kit and assembled at the job site using standard tools is disclosed. The top and bottom rail extrusions of the gate are modified to internally receive the vertical gate members which are bolted to the rails utilizing pre-drilled holes. Truss cables are used to hold the gate in a squared configuration. The gate is mounted on vertical supports for movement in a plane defined by the supports. The vertical supports have truck assemblies on which the gate is mounted and guide assemblies to keep the gate in alignment.

  • Patent number: 4887854
Abstract: A gate latch structure is provided for use with either right-handed or left-handed gates. The latch includes a symmetrical main frame and keeper. The main frame has a striker receiving opening with two opposite cam surfaces flaring outwardly into a "Vee". A retainer stub is fixed to the main frame at a mid location at the inner end of the opening. A substantially flat keeper having a longitudinal axis has two opposite symmetrical striker receiving notches positioned at one end. The other end is pivotally connected at only one point to the main frame. The keeper may be sprung over the stub. While on one side of the retainer stub the keeper is for right handed gate and when it is on the other side it is for a left-handed gate. There are no springs and the weight of the keeper bar causes it to close over the striker.
