  • Patent number: 5692957
Abstract: A magnet coupling system has driving and driven coupling elements, each of which has a magnetic element thereon between which a gap is defined through which a can passes. The magnet coupling system includes a sleeve bearing apparatus comprising a pair of axially spaced sleeve bearings. The sleeve bearing apparatus has a bearing casing enclosing both sleeve bearings and defines a closed fluid flow chamber through which a temperature-control fluid is circulated from an external source. An outer circumference of the bearing casing exchanges heat with an inner circumferential surface of the driven coupling element, and is accommodated substantially-completely within the driven coupling element, to heat or cool the sleeve bearing apparatus and the driven coupling element, and thus the gap between the magnet elements, to a suitable temperature.

  • Patent number: 5437479
Abstract: In a flexible connection arrangement for two pipe portions having a metallic bellows which is connected axially on either side in a gastight manner with connection pieces, the sides of the connection pieces facing the bellows are provided with radially widened end portions. Also provided are a damping insert, which extends coaxially relative to the bellows a along its length and is in a working connection therewith, and heat protection device for the bellows acting in the radially inward direction. The damping insert encloses the bellows radially outwardly such that the turns of the bellows contact the damping insert. The lateral end regions of the damping insert are held in the widened end portions without being fastened thereto and are supported radially outwardly by the latter. The connection pieces are connected with one another via a spring which surrounds the damping insert radially outwardly.

  • Patent number: 4795166
Abstract: A high-temperature resistant sealing gasket, adapted to be clamped between flanged pipe ends for service in a static environment, comprises a flat mica mat including, in a superposed relationship, a great number of mica scales, each formed of a plurality of stacked, extremely thin mica platelets held together by natural cohesion. The mica scales are oriented, with their largest opposite faces, essentially parallel to the opposite mat surfaces. The mica mat further includes a binder situated between overlapping zones of immediately superposed scales. Particular materials for the mica scales and the binder are selected such that the mica mat, in a non-installed state, has the property of undergoing, when heated, a thickness increase in a direction perpendicular to the largest scale faces. The thickness increase starts at a temperature of about 500.degree. C. and reaches, at 800.degree. C., 100% relative to the thickness at 20.degree. C.
