    Abstract: A wall framing system accommodates deflections and frame shortening in building structures to avoid applying structural loads to veneer walls. The system includes a ceiling rail and vertical studs connected to the rail with a vertical slip joint between each stud and the rail. The slip joint is formed with a connector plate integral with the ceiling rail web and vertical slots in the connector plate. The slots accommodate screws threaded into a stud.
