Abstract: A method and system for reducing the cost of handling incoming/outgoing calls are disclosed. A plurality of communication centers deployed in a different geographical region and granted permission to use the receiving and transmitting infrastructure of a corresponding service provider are employed. A default communication center routes incoming/outgoing calls associated with a given subscriber to a distant communication center via an optimal path through the infrastructure of each of said service providers. The optimal path is selected after comparing the transmission time and cost of call for a plurality of possible communication paths.
