  • Publication number: 20150181783
Abstract: The present invention is a new and distinct floricane fruiting red raspberry cultivar named ‘Sapphire’, which is capable of producing large, attractive, flavorful and firm fruit which has exceptional consumer appeal characteristics. The cultivar is characterized by its thorniness throughout the plant, as described herein, lack of fall or primocane fruiting, its strong and distinctive flavor and firmness and its very large fruit size, weight and morphology, specifically its truncated conic, very uniform, fruit shape with minimal bulginess in its basal region or on its receptacle. ‘Sapphire’ plants are very productive in regions having sufficient chilling to produce sufficient spring bud break. Its high yield, firmness, storage ability and large size make ‘Sapphire’ economical to pick mid to mid late season floricane variety for shipping.

  • Publication number: 20140230110
Abstract: The present invention is a new and distinct thornless blackberry cultivar named ‘Black Jack’, which is capable of producing large and firm fruit with high soluble solids. The cultivar is characterized by its thornlessness and its fruit attributes. It has the fruit morphology of other very large blackberries grown on thorny cultivars, namely uneven drupelets. It is, however, firmer than other large fruited types, and has very high soluble solids, up to 14%. ‘Black Jack’ plants are also unusual amongst the very large blackberry cultivars in that they produce commercial quantities of fruit, greater than 13 tons per acre on 2 year old potted plants.

  • Patent number: PP21007
Abstract: The present invention is a new and distinct primocane fruiting red raspberry cultivar named ‘Marcianna’, which is capable of producing large, bright colored, flavorful and firm fruit that has exceptional consumer appeal characteristics. The cultivar is characterized by its leaf pattern change near and after flower initiation on primocanes, its strong and distinctive flavor and firmness and its fruit morphology, specifically its slight imperfections from conic shape. These imperfections include a slight distension and a small bend in its apparent longitudinal axis. ‘Marcianna’ plants are also unusual in that they produce commercial quantities of large, firm and flavorful fruit in both the fall on primocanes and spring on overwintered floricanes. The floricanes are productive with as little as 250 chilling hours in Spain.

  • Patent number: PP28173
Abstract: The present invention is a new and distinct floricane fruiting red raspberry cultivar named ‘Pearl’, which is capable of producing large quantities of commercial size and quality fruit in subtropical or warm temperate areas which experience little winter chilling. The cultivar is characterized by high bud break and vigorous flower truss growth from floricanes on low chilled plants which bear fruit early in the season. ‘Pearl’ fruit is light colored, truncated conic, firm, easily seen and picked and uniform; making it suitable for commercial shipping. The plant has a tendency toward trifoliolate (vs. pentafoliolate) leaves, dark red, somewhat innocuous thorns, and relatively smooth and simple leaf margins.

  • Patent number: PP34612
Abstract: A new and distinct variety of strawberry plant ‘QBC-1’ specifically suited to the retail trade. It is reminiscent of wild strawberry, producing very sweet fruit with strong strawberry aroma and wild fruit size and plant vigor. Compared to soft fleshed wild strawberries, the new variety ‘QBC-1’ is more productive and has fruit flesh which is melting and can be stored for longer periods. The fruit has a light pink color offset with darker red achenes (seeds).
