Abstract: A tattoo device comprises a machine section, a power pack, and a light emitter. The machine section comprises a working end and a power-receiving end on a side other than the working end. The working end is configured to receive a needle or needle cartridge that facilitates tattooing a working surface. The power pack is configured to couple to the power receiving end of the machine section. The power pack comprises a first section comprising a power interface configured to couple to the power receiving end of the machine section, and a second section having a longitudinal axis that is parallel with and offset from a longitudinal axis of the first section and that extends along at least a portion of the machine section in a direction towards the working end. The light emitter is coupled to the second section of the power pack.

The adapter may enable a tattoo machine configured with a wireless battery pack to switch to a wired configuration by removing the wireless battery pack and replacing it with the adapter. One end of the adapter may be affixed to a portion of the tattoo machine so that the adapter may deliver power to the componentry of the tattoo machine to facilitate the operation of the tattoo machine. The other end of the adapter may include a connector for enabling connection of the adapter to a power supply or power source so that power may be delivered from the power supply or power source through the adapter and to the tattoo machine. When the tattoo machine is powered, the motor of the tattoo machine may reciprocate a needle included in a needle cartridge affixed to the tattoo machine.

The power supply component of the machine may be removed, and multiple battery packs may be utilized with a single machine for continuous use. The machine may also be powered by wire and simultaneously operate the machine while charging a connected battery pack. The machine may further include wireless communication with one or more separate devices to operate the machine or control the machine's settings, such as a foot pedal or mobile phone.

The components are arranged so that the grip adjuster houses a cartridge receiver and allows for needle depth adjustment while the grip guide ensures that the needle cartridge maintains its orientation and accepts the ratchet disc which provides positive stop adjustment and prevents unwanted rotation and thus accidental adjustment of the needle depth. In use, a backstem portion of a tattoo machine grip is inserted into the receiving portion of a tattoo machine. The tattoo machine is tightened down onto the backstem of the tattoo machine grip and holds it in place.

The switch or footswitch may include a housing configured to protect and house a plurality of components of the switch or footswitch. The housing may include an accelerometer that may be utilized to detect an acceleration associated with the switch or footswitch, such as a tap made on the housing itself. Upon detection of an acceleration associated with the switch or footswitch, the accelerometer may generate a signal and transmit the signal to a communication device of the switch or footswitch. The communication device may then transmit the signal to the tattoo machine to activate the tattoo machine, deactivate the tattoo machine, adjust a setting of the tattoo machine, or control operative functionality of the tattoo machine. The switch or footswitch may also include a radio frequency ground plate and overlay membrane to enhance radio frequency reception.
