Abstract: Improved fishing lines, and specifically fly lines, and methods of manufacture are shown. The line includes a copolyester ether material monofilament core line portion and a polyethylene copolymer coating portion providing highly improved toughness, line clarity and reel memory characteristics.
Abstract: Fishing appliances and methods characterized by use of a photoluminescent accent are disclosed. The fishing appliances include a hook or other structure with an eye portion and hook portion. A photoluminescent or iridescent material accent is adhered to a segment of the exterior arc of the crook of the hook portion.
Abstract: Improved self cleaning and lubricating all-weather fishing lines and methods of manufacture are disclosed. The line includes a core line portion of polyester multifilament fiber and a coating portion, the coating formed by a thermoplastic polyester elastomer mixed with a blowing agent . The methods of this invention are characterized by the use of a finely ground powder of copolymer and blowing agent processed through a medical-quality elongated mixing screw at the line coating unit and very low processing temperatures.

Abstract: An improved method for manufacture of coated fiber material, for example a composite fly fishing line, is disclosed. The method includes coating fiber of a first material with a hot melt adhesive material. For fly lines, indices of refraction of the materials are preferably selected so that the finished product is substantially transparent absent addition of pigment. The coated fiber material is exposed to electron beam treatment to improve the physical profile of the coating.
Abstract: Improved fishing lines, and specifically fly lines, and methods of manufacture and use thereof are disclosed. The line includes a core line portion and a coating portion, the coating including a copolymer of olefin and acrylic material, the olefin preferably being ethylene. The lines provided include a clear floating fly line having a nylon core and ethylene acrylic acid copolymer coating.
