The capsule (6) may have a controller (40), which receives data from and transmits data to control electronics (14) of the electronic smoking device (1). The control electronics (14) of the electronic smoking device (1) and the controller (40) of the capsule (6) are adapted to execute a challenge response authentication.

Abstract: A device for generating a condensation aerosol includes (a) vaporization chamber having an upstream first inlet and a downstream outlet; (b) a heater element in the vaporization chamber between the upstream first inlet and the downstream outlet; (c) an airflow path in fluid communication with the vaporization chamber, wherein the airflow path comprises a second inlet configured to permit a substantially laminar flow of air into the airflow path, wherein the second inlet is downstream of the heater element; and (d) the device having components or apparatus on or in the device for changing air flow in the vaporization chamber. Changing the air flow in the vaporization chamber may be used to change the particle size of a condensation aerosol produced in the vaporization chamber, and/or to change the amount of visible vapor emitted from the device.

The tray (100) is configured to return to the default form once the finger interaction is terminated. The default form provides the at least one cavity (101) for containing the portion in an inaccessible manner and the deformed form is required for accessing the portion.

A buffering channel (120) within or on the housing (100) connects into the liquid reservoir (110) via a port (130). A sealing member (140) is fitted within the buffering channel (120) and provides a movable or slidable seal in the buffering channel (120). Upon expansion of a gas within the liquid reservoir (110) and/or a gaseous component within the liquid, the sealing member (140) moves within the buffering channel (120) to increase the effective volume of the liquid reservoir (110) and compensate for the change in pressure. Over-pressure and under-pressure conditions in the liquid reservoir are reduced or avoided.
