  • Patent number: 7756404
Abstract: In a microstructure apparatus for heating and atomizing a fluid with an inner body received in an outer tube, circumferential microstructure passages are formed into the inner surface of the outer tube or the outer surface of the inner body so as to form a flow passage which is provided with an inlet connector and heating means are incorporated into the inner body for heating the fluid conducted through the microstructure flow passages under pressure, the microstructure fluid passages extending spirally around the inner body so as to proved for a relatively long microstructure fluid flow passage which is open at the axial end thereof for discharging the fluid heated pressurized therein through the open axial end.

  • Patent number: 6922176
Abstract: In a belt coil serving as a transmitter/receiver for recording body-internal values, a belt coil including at least one insulated conductor tape for placement around a human or animal body part carries conductors and a connecting structure for closing the belt and interconnecting the individual conductors into a coil, and the belt tape includes a resilient section in which also each conductor is longitudinally expandable, and the contacts structures of the connector members are arranged in a displaced fashion such that the end of one conductor is connected to the beginning of a next adjacent conductor when the connecting members are joined and the opposite ends of the outermost conductors are accessible.

  • Patent number: 6478794
Abstract: In a bipolar coagulation and cutting device for endoscopic surgery with a proximal operating part and a distal grasping part interconnected by a shaft, the distal grasping part includes jaws, each having two spaced branches supported on flexible wires. The jaws are held apart but are movable toward each other by actuating means extending along the shaft for the engagement of tissue between the jaws. HF energy can be supplied for the coagulation of the tissue engaged between the jaws. A wire electrode is also mounted on the shaft so as to be movable by the actuating means between the spaced branches of the jaws for cutting, by HF energy application, the coagulated tissue engaged between the jaws.

  • Patent number: 6222089
Abstract: A process for destroying aromatic compounds in an exhaust gas containing also sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and dust, first the dust is removed at a temperature of between room temperature and 150° C. to a residual quantity of not more than 50 mg/m3,the sulfur dioxide is removed to a residual quantity of not more than 1000 mg/m3, the nitrogen oxides are removed to a residual quantity of not more than 300 mg/m3 and the exhaust gas is then subjected to electron irradiation having an energy of 3 to 10 kWh/1000 m3 exhaust gas.

  • Patent number: 5983725
Abstract: In a tactile opto-electronic pressure sensor having a body with a rigid matrix including axially extending bores in which hollow cylinders of an elastic material are firmly disposed such that the front ends of the hollow cylinder project from one side of the matrix while the opposite ends of the hollow cylinders are flush with the other side of the matrix, a light emitting electro-luminescent foil is disposed on the front faces of the hollow cylinders such that light emitted therefrom shines through the hollow cylinders and is recorded by an evaluation device arranged at the other side of said matrix, the hollow cylinders being axially compressible such that their openings become smaller with increasing forces acting thereon, the light intensity received by the evaluation units depending on the forces applied to the hollow cylinders.

  • Patent number: 5919421
Abstract: In a lid support arrangement for a double lid lock for closing the openings of two containments disposed adjacent one another for transferring noxious materials between the containments, a cover lid for sealing the opening between the containments is supported by a pivot arm structure which is pivotally supported at one end and extends over the cover lid and the cover lid is attached to the pivot arm structure by a pivot joint having an axis extending parallel to the pivot axis of the pivot arm structure.

  • Patent number: 5648638
Abstract: In a low-temperature current transfer structure including a conductor with a cold end for connection to a superconductive component and a warm end for connection to a bus, there are provided heat exchange regions around the conductor at the cold end and a heat exchange region within the conductor at the warm end where the conductor is hollow cylindrical and, in a transition zone, includes passages for conducting coolant from the heat exchange regions around the conductor to the heat exchange region within the hollow conductor at the warm end to which electrical connectors are mounted on the outside. The arrangement permits heating of the coolant within the conductor close to ambient temperature so that no condensation or icing of the structure occurs and no insulation is needed at the connector end. Also the amount of coolant required is reduced so that also cooling equipment requirements are reduced.

  • Patent number: 5508010
Abstract: In a method of separating fission molybdenum from other fission products, wherein an aqueous solution of the fission molybdenum and the other fission products is supplied to a packet bed of manganese dioxide whereby the fission molybdenum and part of the other fission products are retained in the bed whereas the rest of the fission products is carried away with the aqueous solution and the fission molybdenum is recovered from the fission molybdenum-charged packet bed, the packet bed consists of hydrated manganese dioxide of a particle size of 0.2-0.5 mm from which any finer particles have been removed by a liquid sedimentation procedure.
