Abstract: Distributed optical fibre sensor measures vibration, as a concurrent function of position along each of a plurality of sensing optical fibres, from properties of probe light backscattered within the sensing optical fibres. The sensor includes a light-pulse-generating probe light source, a detector, an optical switch. The sensor is arranged to control the optical switch such that all of the sensing optical fibres can be used concurrently to detect acoustic vibration, and an analyser is arranged to determine vibration, as a concurrent function of position along each of the sensing optical fibres, from the detected backscattered probe light.
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program products for monitoring an industrial process. Motion related to the industrial process is monitored to identify the occurrence of events such as equipment stoppages and/or to characterize the process. Motion data may be extracted from a video of the industrial process. Based on an analysis of the motion data, a determination is made whether an event has occurred, such as an equipment malfunction, work stoppage, or another process anomaly. In response to determining an event has occurred, an error log may be generated and stored in a database. Analysis of the timing and amount of motion may be used to determine a root cause of the event and/or to count the number of products produced by the process being monitored.
Abstract: An eye-wear comprising a viewing frame, a pair of arms extending from the viewing frame, audio circuitry, a pair of ear-pieces and a battery compartment, wherein the pair of ear-pieces are respectively and detachably attached to the pair of arms and each ear-piece is connected to the audio circuitry and an arm via a flexible cord.
Abstract: The invention relates to a novel thermoelectric sensor for determining or measuring the thermal power of radiation, especially laser radiation, with at least one thermoelectric detector or sensor element which has an active detector surface of a thin active layer of a crystalline solid with anisotropic thermoelectric power and in which the surface perpendicular of the layer does not coincide with one of the primary anisotropy directions, on the thin active layer there being at least two contacts for tapping a voltage dependent on the thermal output.
Abstract: A device to support flexible netting used to protect plants, especially seedlings, from browsing wildlife which comprises a metal or plastic wicket having two legs which are inserted in the ground and which is shaped to define a space within which the plant is shielded by the netting when the netting is disposed around and supported by the wicket.
