  • Publication number: 20150310548
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of constructing a currency carry index performed by one or more computing devices. The method includes calculating a carry metric value for each of a plurality of currencies with respect to a base one of the currencies. For each of the currencies, the carry metric value is calculated based on a forward rate value associated with the currency, and a spot rate value associated with the currency. The method further includes ranking the currencies by their carry metric values, selecting a portion of the currencies for inclusion in the currency carry index based at least in part on the ranking, and assigning a weight value to each currency in the selected portion. The currency carry index includes the selected portion of the currencies weighted according to the weight value assigned to each currency in the selected portion.

  • Patent number: 8671045
Abstract: Method and system for implementing an adaptive investing methodology. An asset allocation is determined for each of a plurality of periods of a model duration that optimize an objective function. The asset allocations identify for each of the periods how much of the investment account to invest in one or more asset classes. The objective function subtracts a value of a shortfall risk function from an expected value of an amount of income to be generated by an annuity purchased at the end of the model duration with funds in the investment account at the end of the model duration. The asset allocations are associated with values of a plurality of investor variables. The values of the plurality of investor variables and their associated asset allocations may be stored in one or more wealth tables and used to look up asset allocations for one or more investors.

  • Patent number: 8548887
Abstract: A method of evaluating the performance of a family of target date funds. A model of the family is constructed using realized rates of return (“returns”) for an evaluation period for each of the funds. The returns for each fund are assigned to the periods of the model corresponding to the periods during which the return was realized by the fund. An estimate of the wealth generated by the family may be determined as a function of the returns assigned to the model and a pattern of contributions. A benchmark portfolio may be selected and used to construct a model of the benchmark portfolio having the same number of periods as the model of the family. The model of the benchmark and the pattern of contributions may be used to determine wealth generated by the benchmark portfolio, which may be compared to the estimate of wealth generated by the family.

  • Publication number: 20130212041
Abstract: Methods of constructing a stability style index from a parent index comprising assets performed by one or more computing devices. A score is assigned to each of one or more stability variables for each asset based at least in part on a value of the stability variable. A quality score is assigned to each asset based at least in part on the score assigned to each stability variable for the asset. A score is assigned to each of one or more volatility variables for each asset based at least in part on a value of the volatility variable. A volatility score is assigned to each asset based at least in part on the score assigned to each volatility variable for the asset. A probability score is assigned to each asset as a function of the quality and volatility scores. The probability scores are used to construct the stability style index.

  • Publication number: 20130080352
Abstract: Systems and methods for creating and maintaining multi-manager exchange traded funds. An embodiment of a method includes receiving a plurality of model portfolios, each created by a different portfolio manager and identifying a plurality of assets traded on a stock exchange. A portfolio composition file is created based at least in part on at least a portion of the model portfolios. The portfolio composition file identifies a set of constituent assets traded on the stock exchange. One or more authorized participants are authorized to trade the set of constituent assets for a creation unit of an exchange traded fund. The creation unit includes at least one share that is tradable on the stock exchange by both the authorized participant(s) and the investors.
