Patents Assigned to Friedrich Kocks GmbH & Company
  • Patent number: 4391357
Abstract: A coupling is provided in which a coupling member and coupling sleeve of a rotary coupling for coupling a drive transmission to a rolling mill stand input shaft have mating taper threads which provide torsional rigidity and facilitate quick engagement and release. Engagement and release are effected by slowly turning the coupling half by means of the drive transmission while a brake device engages dogs on the coupling half to prevent the latter rotating. The coupling sleeve is flexibly attached to the flange by sheet metal laminate compensating elements but mobility of the sleeve is restricted by a support element on a shaft extension.

  • Patent number: 4391117
Abstract: A rolling mill and method for rolling material having a rectangular, oval or like elongated cross-sectional configuration into rod or wire, has a line of passes of which the first pass is formed by two rollers and the remaining passes are each formed by three rollers, and wherein the first pass deforms the material, whose input cross section has a ratio of the lengths of its major and minor principal axes greater than about 1:2 to an output cross section which is exactly round or a regular polygon, such as square or hexagonal or which deviates from such a geometrical configuration only to an extent such that the ratio of the lengths of the major and minor principal axes of the output cross section does not exceed about 1:2.

  • Patent number: 4326623
Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for feeding, clamping and removing bar or tube goods in tube test presses which have a bearing surface consisting of several supporting crossbeams spaced parallel to each other, and at least two disk-like driven rotors having at least one hook-like peripheral projection spaced on at least one axis of rotation, where each axis of rotation runs crosswise to the crossbeams under their bearing surfaces, such that only hook-like peripheral extensions of the rotors project above the bearing surfaces for transporting and clamping the goods, the improvement comprising at least one tenterhook pivotable adjacent the bearing surface between a first position below the bearing surface and a second position above the bearing surface of the crossbeam and parallel to the rotor adjacent each rotor, and which, pivoted to said second position above the bearing surface during clamping, grips the goods on side opposite the adjacent rotor involved.

  • Patent number: 4215855
Abstract: A cooling bed for cooling and straightening rods or bars which are delivered hot from a rolling mill as side-by-side conveyor chains provided with projections between which pockets for the articles are defined. Reversal sprocket wheels at the infeed end are interconnected so that the pockets at the infeed end remain accurately in alignment, notwithstanding chain wear and differential expansion under the heat conditions. Reversal sprocket wheels at the discharge end are not drivingly interconnected, at least under normal operating conditions. Individual hydraulic drive motors drive the reversal wheels as shown or separate drive wheels which cooperate with the lower runs of the conveyor chains to keep the upper runs taut individually. The individually driven sprocket wheels are mounted with angular lost motion on a connection shaft to avoid one of the motors being overloaded under exceptional circumstances.

  • Patent number: 4196838
Abstract: A method for the manufacture of longitudinal-seam welded tubes of substantial thickness is provided in which a strip of steel is curled to form a longitudinally slit tube and the slit is welded in a longitudinal-seam welding plant and in which the seam-welded tube thus produced is fed into a tandem arranged reducing mill, in which it is rolled in the longitudinal direction of the tube between the stands of the reducing mill without being subjected to longitudinal tension while at the same time its external diameter is reduced. A longitudinal seam-welded tube made by the method is claimed.

  • Patent number: 4192164
Abstract: A rolling mill and method for single strand rolling of bar sections is provided having a plurality of successive in-line roughing roll stands on a pass line in which the last two roughing roll stands are radially adjustable transverse to the pass line to produce a rough bar having a cross section substantially the same at its finished section and a plurality of successive in-line finishing roll stands receiving the rough bar and rolling the same to finish condition.

  • Patent number: 4191041
Abstract: A rolling mill for rolling wire or rod product having a plurality of roll stands arranged one after the other, each having at least three driven rollers and in which the distance between at least two adjoining successive stands forming a group is not substantially greater than the roller diameter of the stands and the last sizing pass of each group of stands has a regular cross section in relation to the first sizing pass of the next following group.

  • Patent number: 4182147
Abstract: A rolling block for rolling a bar-shaped article having several rolling units mounted on a common frame, each rolling unit having three or more rollers journalled to respective pivotable elements and defining a sizing pass. For replacing the rollers, the pivotable elements can be swung about respective drive shafts from which the rollers are driven via step-up transmissions within the pivotable elements. The pivotable elements can be locked in their operative positions by hydraulically actuable coupling means and all the pivotable elements with the respective rollers therein can be fine-adjusted in the radial direction of the rollers.
